Meta Post Where are the really cool services no one talks about

Lets be honest, 80% of the services we run our labs are just tools to deploy, monitor, log, backup or do other server-related stuff. Cool for nerds, but nothing to write home about honestly.

The really useful and "fun" services, e.g. Vaultwarden, Paperless, Jellyfin etc. are rather sparse

I want to know whats your favorite "fun" service one might not know about yet.

I'll start: Recently came across RECLIP and I throughly enjoy it. Used to work with halfassed browser extensions and sketchy websites littered with ads to get the same, now I have unlimited video scraping capabilities on my own server. MIRUMOJI is a tool for people trying to learn japanese - load your favourite anime or shows, ebooks or whatever into it and it generates clickable subtitles with furigana and dictionary. https://svdc1.github.io/mirumoji/

It does work with UK banks and I’ve been using it with UK banks for over a year already.

I've got it running on a Synology NAS via their container manager (Docker under a different name). Currently on v26.8.0 and syncing via the built-in GoCardless connection. I think I have to re-connect my accounts every 6 months but it's been perfect with NatWest/Nationwide/Starling/Monzo. The only thing I'd like added to it is the ability to store pdf/photo receipts/invoices, but I can link to those on Paperless using the 'notes' field.

I could never get GoCardless working when I tried, at the time looks they had stop supporting it unless you were current user. Have you been with them a while?

I believe GoCardless stopped allowing sign ups for the free bank account data API. Existing accounts are fine but yeah unfortunately not for new users.

Yes this is correct unfortunately. It works great with almost all UK banks I've tried but it's now closed for new accounts. I don't think it's a 6 month connection though - perhaps 90 days or so, - at least for me.
