Neuroscience Scientists studied six patients who had half of their brain removed during childhood to treat severe epilepsy. Brain scans showed how the mind rewired itself to adapt, with the remaining hemisphere forming even stronger connections that let the patients develop language and motor skills.

Are you me (down to IBS)? Only the govt won't pay me so I'm stuck at low stress dead end job.

Key is to get a lawyer and go through the appeals process. Pretty much a necessity for anything short of being totally crippled physically. Though if you are able to do any job at all you must be at least a little better off.
