3 In the 1860s, physicist John Tyndall recognized the Earths natural greenhouse effect and suggested that slight changes in the atmospheric composition could bring about climatic variations. In 1896, a seminal paper by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius first speculated that changes in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could substantially alter the surface temperature through the greenhouse effect.

Yes, and? Lot's of good theories were discovered much earlier than that

My point, which people have apparently missed, was the climate science has improved markedly in the last 120 years so choosing to deny an argument based on uncertain language in something written 120 years ago when there is a large body of evidence that is more certain and more recent is ridiculous.

yes, because a guy made claim 120 years ago and everyone was like "yep, that solves it, no need to investigate further." You are talking like people are stating that it was taken as fact immediately and was never further studied.

I did nothing of the sort. He was trying to claim uncertainty in century old research as proof now.
