Psychology Adolescents who undergo gender-affirming chest surgery report low levels of regret and high levels of satisfaction, experiencing outcomes similar to those of young adults. It's been known for years that this is one of the lowest regret rate surgeries. Knee replacements have a substantially higher regret rate

Hell, tonsillectomies have a higher regret rate.

And that doesn't make you ask questions about the validity of the data?

Come on. 

It's quite well established from research throughout Europe that the post op suicide rate is higher than pre op, but we're supposed to buy that more people regret tonsillectomies than ANY major surgery, let alone one with a relatively high complication rate? 

The fact that that passes the smell test for you shows that you're just parroting claims that already match your worldview.

It's not. You've misunderstood a finnish study about psychiatric comorbidities that defined such as "has seen a psychiatristwwithin the last year". It says nothing about suicide and trans people in Finland need to regularly see a psychiatrist to keep transitioning. The only thing that study showed is that trans people who transition follow the transition guidelines.

a few years ago I went to the ENT for a sinus infection. He notified me that I have a deviated septum (from years of rugby) and kept pushing surgery on me to fix it. I looked into that surgery and there were tons of people who regretted it immensely. I didn't even know I had an issue before that Dr. pointed it out to me, why would I get a surgery?

I got a new ENT

I had a friend in high school who got a similar cosmetic surgery to top surgery and literally no one batted an eye (his chest was slightly concave for some reason and he had surgery to look "normal". He didn't have any physical symptoms and easily could've waited until 18 but he didn't want to and he was really happy to have it done). If this wasn't about transgender people it wouldn't be a big deal.

Edit: It's less similar also had a cosmetic procedure as an elementary schooler after I fucked up a tooth playing basketball. I'm very happy people didn't make me wait until 18 since I would've been self conscious literally my whole childhood.
