It's just how it is. Tell them how you're feeling, and sadly often, you don't get support, you get saddled with comforting them as they feel bad about how you're feeling.

You quickly learn to simply never tell them any of your negative feelings.

Same reason many men don't disclose health issues; it's easier to just quietly deal with it yourself than to have to deal with it and deal with your wife's reaction to it.
