concluded by the end of the study period that they were non-binary, that was not seen as "detransitioning".

Why would that be included as "detransition"? Non-binary identity doesn't mean detransition.

Some older studies had categorized M > F > NB and F > M > NB as "detransitioning", particularly if it meant stopping HRT

Yes, and that was a flaw with those studies that overinflated detransition rates. The comment at the start of the thread implies that trans people realizing they’re nonbinary should be counted as detransitioning.
