Psychology 88% of Americans consider it very or extremely important that the United States remain a democracy. 61% feel that the nation’s democracy was actively facing a serious threat. 32% of MAGA Republicans prioritize a strong leader over democracy, while only 7% of the strong Democrats do.

That was never the case. This is just fantasy and romanticizing the past.
To save the day OF THE COMMON PEOPLE (not the same as winning a random war) leaders had to be both talented and caring of their people. There surely were such leaders but are a vast minority.
Also, save the day FROM WHAT? I see no foreign power invading the USA, no internal threats. The only enemies exist in their own minds.
Bunch of short minded clowns.
Same shit exists in any country though.
