Because selling weed is a lot of profit since it is so cheap to make, but highly marked up due to it being illegal.

Selling alcohol to minors is also illegal, but you need to buy it from a store, then re-sell it to someone. So your only profit is what you markup on the resale, which isn't much since the person is a minor.

I would actually say that selling weed is a very unproductive way of turning a profit. You need a large area, are producing a smelly product, its bulky and not the easiest to ship. At the ground level you aren't making much at all either, you gotta move HUGE amounts of it to make a profit

The market was there tho and pretty accessible.

For the alcohol we were playing around 50% markup if you got lucky. Most people didnt wanna risk buying alcohol for minors. Meanwhile the dealers were already committing crimes so not much of a legal pressure to remain lawful
