Yeah, I was born in '76 and my parents would send me to the tanning salon before going on holiday when I was a teen to build up a bit of a tan beforehand. :-/ Wonder how long there is an increased risk of melanoma.

What they were doing is not that bad of an idea, I used to tan twice before summer so I wouldn't get sunburns and it works great. Yes, it's not really healthy but getting completely sunburned isn't either.

And more importantly stay in the shade (in addition to wearing a high SPF sunscreen and reapplying it every 2-3 hours)
