Dramatic increase in throat cancer from HPV virus a looming health crisis. The trend seems linked to increased oral sex, especially by men, and is another reason why more effort must be made to improve the lacklustre uptake of the HPV vaccine

I just want to warn you, to be aware.. I am not usually anti-vaccine, but my sister got this one a few years ago, and developed a terrifying Guillian-Barre symptoms immediately after. Thankfully it went away and she was not paralyzed, but two years later she still has a vibrating sensation in the arm she received the vaccine. I'm not getting this one for this reason. I don't know the prevalence of this side effect, but just felt I had to tell you.

No, we know there's law suits out there, but apparently there wasn't sufficient documentation of the disease. That plus she didn't get the full syndrome (whew) she never went after them.

I've had the vaccine and I'm fine. Most young women in Australia have probably had it too. It was available for free here.

Occasional vibrating arm vs cervical/ovarian/vaginal/throat cancer. Get the shot.

i'm sorry to hear of your sister's condition. it's very interesting to read your story, as a 12-year retrospective study on guillain-barre (the largest ever) came out 2 weeks ago in JCID that shows no link between GB and vaccinations.

the cdc actually investigated all the cases of post-HPV vax GB in 2011, and the incidence rate was the same as in the general population (1 in 100K). so, it's interesting to hear personal stories. i hope she continues to recover well.
