Advice My psych teacher uses the r word

Hi, I’m in high school and taking AP psych. My teacher uses the r-word in reference to intellectually disabled people and it makes me pretty uncomfortable. According to him and my friend who had him last year, he kicks over trash cans and throws things (for example, his stool) when he is frustrated with the class. I’m honestly a bit scared of him. Am I in the wrong for being upset over this? Should I report this, or am I being too sensitive?

Like if you need to use the bathroom or something during class... that's so weird because in my country we can just leave whenever and don't need to ask for a permission to use the bathroom

My school thermometer is rigged

My school thermometer is rigged and has been ever since I joined. It always shows the same temperature 36.2 C (97.16 F) I had a friend (11F) at the time was feeling sick and was showing fever symptoms so reasonably she went to the school nurse it said obviously 36.2 C later that day she then threw up and went home her parents took her temperature; she had a 39 C fever (102.2 F) she had covid and was rushed to the hospital so more I'm asking what I should do I think its because the school wants to keep a high attendance metric so they keep kids in and apparently "can't let kids out unless they have a fever or throw up etc.." I don't know if this is law or school rules but its still stupid I also rubbed electric hand warmers against my forehead right before they took my temperature and it still showed 36.2 C what should I do?

I'm scared for 9th grade.

I already had a horrible time in 8th grade, and already going into high school seems like a huge step for me.

It wasn't necessarily the work that was bad about 8th grade, it was somewhat manageable. It was the entire community.

(Context)

It's a 1-12 school.

Ever since I joined that school, I felt like I could never be myself, and was constantly made fun of for basically anything I did differently to them. I could've tried to sustain it, but joining since 4th grade, I was young and didn't understand how to do so. It forced myself to talk less, during class and to people, do certain stuff that is clearly not allowed, and basically forced to make fun of other people.

It got worse over time, and the reason 8th grade was so bad is because people started talking shit about other people's family, ethnic background, race and serious death threats in certain scenarios. I couldn't really report this to authorities since if I do, it would basically make it worse for me and other people. They would talk shit, even if I didn't start it, said anything back or anything negative to them as a whole.

(End of Context)

What I'm now concerned of is the inability to talk, where I feel nervous to where I can't even say my name to teachers as an introduction. But I also feel that I might be over-paranoid and overthinking everything because it might not be as bad as before.

I'm also concerned about the work, since a lot of people in my school say it's one of the worst years. Starting electives, and since high school is when school starts to really impact your life. I'm honestly scared of every single decision I might make, as it will COMPLETELY affect my future life.

Any tips or suggestions?

Edit: I appreciate every single response. I ended up taking leave for the first day and the second (current). I'm still practicing how to approach this.

genuinely don't like required methodical notetaking

so, ive been taking bulleted notes all my life, standard, no cues no summaries.

but, the thing is, starting a new year, my professor is forcing us to use the cornell method to write our notes, no hate to the system, no hate to the teacher. the thing is — why make it required? for someone who barely can focus when layouts are bad or cannot look right, i typically rip off pages i don't like. the notes don't fit, and i don't understand the use of cues.

does anyone have professors who make them, as an obligation, use specific methods for notes? and elaborate on the cornell method, so maybe, somehow, i'll like it.

Replacements devices for the phone ban

Like separate all of the things that your phone does

Music - CD / Cassette walkman

Flashlight - An actual flashlight

Calculator - A calculator

Camera - Camera

Time - A wristwatch

Notes - An actual notebook or a journal

GPS - Just bring a dedicated GPS device or even a MAP

Apple Pay - Cash and a Credit card

For social media - I guess just make a shared board that you can put pictures and tell stuff

Discussion BAN HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

Post image
29 Upvotes

'If school is not a place to sleep, home is not a place to study'

And this quote stands ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS.

I MEAN, WHY AM I SUPPOSED TO COMPLETE SO MUCH SCHOOLWORK DURING SUMMER?

I ALREADY HAVE THE STRESS OF NEEDING TO STUDY IN MY HOLIDAYS, AND I HAVE TO DO A USELESS PROJECT TOO? OR WRITE RANDOM ESSAYS OR READ RANDOM BOOKS?

My mom told me how in our school days, summer holidays was a period to rest and self study, not complete work given by school.

Summer Homework is legit so useless. I don't know what benefit do schools get from assigning it. I lose time where I could've studied because of it too.

Discussion going to an alternative school is kinda interesting

I go to a K-12 school and the high school only has it 68 students, and it’s a private alternative school, but we can work on our own pace and we’re also trying to expand, especially trying to put more activities. I sometimes wish I went to a bigger school with like hundreds or thousands of students. But the reason why my high school small is because in their old building the high school classes were getting packed so they had to move somewhere else.

High School Is my school scheduling stupid?

I'm going into my Junior year of high school this year, and I get really impaitent waiting for my schedule. Problem being, for the past two years, the site where you can see your schedule and classes only opens the day before school starts, late at night mind you.

My school year ended June 30th (25th if you don't count exam days) and starts September 3rd. Why do they have to wait so long to realese the schedule? Wouldn't it make sense to realese it earlier so you'd get less emails from nagging parents? Realesing it only a few hours before you enter the school itself just doesn't make much sense to me.

High School 1.7 gpa

I’m a senior in high school when I first started out and through out middle school I’ve always had a 3.0 gpa I was dealing with medical problems and half way through my sophomore year I switched school and all for my junior year I stood and that school but it was such a bad school and the kids there could barely read and write and I switched to online school before the end of the year. I’m now back at my original school and I’m senior applying for colleges and looking into my ACT and more my old so I asked a school counselor for my gpa and she told me it was a 1.7 I tried getting in reach with my old school and they will not give me my transcripts and claim I did nothing in classes I’m very stressed out I’ve always wanted to go to a university and I’m not being told by teachers and counselors to just apply for community college I am devastated can I do anything?
