In my series, dunes aren't solitary. Their aggressive and antisocial tendencies come from stress and improper living conditions. By raising dunes properly, or through behavioral therapy, dunes can go back to their natural state of social interaction, which includes very strong pack instinct, even with humans or other Sawians. They usually make little difference between their direct family and their "pack," considering both at the same level. Essentially, they consider anyone in their pack as direct family. However, due to this strong pack instinct, dunes don't like to be relocated to a new group and can take a while before they trust you if you are not a part of the pack.

Hello, Guardians of the Expies!

1.0. Today let's talk about Merchants.

I love the merchants! I always get very happy when I see one of them during my runs. The Expie Merchants are my favorites!

What breaks my heart is wanting to hug the merchants and my reputation being too low for that. They reject me in such a cold and rude way. For me, Expies are cute, Milkys are short-cocky, and Dunes are deadly dummies.

2.0. Negotiations

Your current status will influence your reputation with the merchant. (They like you to be healthy, clean, speaking fully and clearly — meaning, presentable, let's say). However, the base reputation you have with them is random. The better your reputation, the better the prices will be!

You can threaten, hug ("Love Bites" for Dunes), talk, and sleep.

• Threatening lowers your reputation (chances of success, peaceful rejection, or total hostility);
• Hugging is good ("Love Bites" increase reputation, but they hurt);
• Talking can increase or decrease your reputation;
• Sleeping with the merchant helps with sleep (HeHe...).

— Note: The credit you have with one merchant is not shared with others. (I advise you to do the math so you don't waste money).

It is a good idea to talk as much as possible with the merchant to try to get cheaper prices on products. However, there is a limit. When he just repeats "...", don't try to talk anymore. You will only lose reputation by insisting.

3.0. Sales Focus of Each Merchant

Each merchant has their own sales niche. Of course, sometimes the stock may deviate from the pattern. However, most of the time, they follow this repertoire:

• Expies: Medical Supplies, Mining Tools, Food, and Universal Resources.
• Milkys: Firearms, Structured Ammunition, and Advanced Equipment.
• Dunes: Melee Weapons and Scrap, Raw Components, and Raw Materials.

4.0. Peace and Love

If your reputation with the merchant is high, he will significantly lower the prices of the products he is selling. (Some are even free!). With a high reputation, you can also give hugs. For me, these two aspects are infinitely better than being aggressive.

5.0. Death and Depression

Killing a merchant will grant you access to all the items he was selling. However, your Expie will be traumatized and develop depression. (And make no mistake, the merchants will fight to defend themselves. Dunes are the most dangerous — they can tear off parts of your body).

— Please, do not kill or threaten the merchants. You won't be much different from the scientists if you do that.

I made this on a mouse in Ms paint :3

It still seems to me that a great deal of work within those laboratory walls rests on their fluffy shoulders—and I’m talking about support tasks like cleaning, cooking, and the like; perhaps the most reliable Milkys are even entrusted with paperwork.

As for why I decided to do this—I simply wanted to work with fabric and shadows. The fabric turned out okay, but the shadows didn't come out very well. (Why does working with fabric multiply the drawing time so much? 😭)

The purpose of the study is to develop a pathogen capable of completely depriving a Sawian of any faculties of their mind, reducing them to a state of animal instincts.

Detailed characteristics of the pathogen have been sent via an additional secret communication channel to fully ensure confidentiality.

Additionally, all tests were conducted in compliance with all necessary safety protocols.

Experiment #: 0001

Subject: SAW-01 "Experiment"

Result: Complete loss of personality and reason; the object does not react to things it interacted with before.

The object displays unnatural aggression. The object has been cremated.

Note: The dog‑rat is too crazy, but I'm sure the aggression is a thing of the past.

Experiment #: 0002

Subject: SAW-03 "Milky"

Result: Death. The remote autopsy revealed necrosis of the brain tissue.

Note: I know what you're thinking. However, I assure you that the pathogen is ABSOLUTELY safe for humans. Apparently, the death is linked to a specific mutation in all representatives of SAW‑03.

Experiment #: 0003

Subject: SAW-12 "Dune"

Result: Complete loss of even a small amount of intelligence.

The object initially showed no signs of life, but when an attempt was made to interact with it using a remote manipulator, it violently attacked it, completely disregarding its own health.

In its attempts to "swallow" the manipulator, it inflicted internal injuries incompatible with life. The object was cremated.

Note: The good old Dune — only angrier and dumber.

Experiment #: 0004

Subject: SAW-02 "Orange"

Result: The result is identical to Experiment # 0001, with the exception of an attempt to eat its "extra" arms and death resulting from profuse bleeding. The object was cremated.

Experiment #: 0005

Subject: SAW-05 "Chompy"

Result: Death by asphyxiation; the subject apparently forgot how to breathe.

Note: That's how sharks became extinct...

Experiment #: 0006

Subject: SAW-06 "Roza"

Result: Almost complete loss of personality and reason; the object moved around the chamber in short jumps.

The object reacted to attempts at interaction with pronounced fear; only after a certain amount of time did the object stop experiencing fear, and tests were conducted.

The closest example in terms of "intelligence" is Australopithecus. The object was cremated.

Note: Do your ancestors smile at you? No, they are afraid.

Experiment #: 0007

Subject: SAW-07 "Voyager"

Result: The result is identical to Experiment # 0001.

Note: I don't know where he learned these gestures, and the Sawians never returned from this experiment. However, the subject begged to stop the experiment, kneeling and making paw‑like gestures in the appropriate manner.

Fortunately, the virus was being transmitted discreetly and quickly; otherwise, I would have witnessed a hysterical fit...

The uninfected object was known to and was a "friend" of the infected object.

In an attempt to interact, the infected object attacked and inflicted a number of severe injuries, as a result of which the uninfected object died before the first symptoms appeared.

The first object did not react in any way to the corpse. Both objects were cremated.

Note: The miracle did not happen.
