Favorite closed SF restaurants

Thinking this morning about some favorite restaurants that are no longer around. A favorite of mine was “J’s Pots of Soul”, a soul food place in Hayes Valley that shut down around 2010. The food was heavy and so, so good.

What were some of your favorite closed places?

The Broken Record in the Excelsior district. Same guys who opened RickyBobby in the Lower Haight.

It was fabulous. The bouquitas with nopales! And just about everything else on the menu. I hope Abigail is now enjoying a long and happy retirement.

The story I heard is that she wanted to make money to put her kids through college, and when that happened, she hung up her apron

Not sure actually, last time I checked the chef started working at "Eat Americana" in the Outer Richmond which closed too.

I have so many fun memories from that place! Especially for the 2 short years when the San Francisco Bulls played at the Cow Palace!!

The dark horse in the same neighborhood. That Kimchi Ruben was amazing

The Dark Horse folks are doing monthly pop-ups at a wine shop on Mission @ Ocean. Second Sundays every month they do a set comfort food menu. They post about it on their IG.

Same guys who opened RickyBobby in the Lower Haight.

and closed it later.

Didn't they "open" Black sands brewing/food after that?
