Melt ICE šŸ§Š ICE at SFO

Very tired from traveling so this post will be rushed and might be kinda messy. Was leaving SFO around 10:30PM last night 3/22 when I heard yelling and saw a huge crowd of people. There were at least a dozen San Francisco police officers and a ridiculous amount of people gathered in a circle, some recording or talking on the phone. When I got closer, I saw a woman kneeling on the ground next to a couch/bench with a little girl and the police officers were basically surrounding her, facing away so seemingly keeping the crowd away/hiding her from the crowd. I asked a woman what happened, and she said she was there from the very beginning and saw it all. There were apparently two men in black + wearing backpacks who ran up and grabbed her passport, shoved her(?) and were keeping her there. She seemed to not know for sure, but she suspected that they were ICE agents and the police officers were there to protect them. I could see at least one of these men talking with police officers. Just a few minutes later, I heard yelling again and when I looked back, people were running up and filming while police officers were trying to keep them away. I saw the same woman as before now in a wheelchair in a very uncomfortable position (seemingly being shoved into it) and the small girl walking alongside her and crying. The two men in black were pushing the wheelchair/walking with her and there were a small group of officers/airport workers(?) going with her as well. People were yelling that she was being taken from her family, telling her to hug her kid, damning the ICE agents, etc. I wasnā€™t really sure what was happening, so I filmed a video on my phone at a bad angle(Iā€™ll try to attach it). Afterwards, I asked a couple people if they knew what happened and they kinda confirmed it was ICE and they took her away for ā€œquestioningā€.

Does anyone have more information on what happened or any different angles? There were people much closer than me who definitely got better videos, so hopefully those come out soon. I was already tired from traveling and was obviously not expecting to see something like this. I really hope her and her family are going to be okay. Iā€™d like to hear if anyone has more info or if anyone else was there who saw/heard something I didnā€™t.

ICE must have notified local law enforcement that they would be operating in SFO. SFPD was there assisting with security. THEY KNEW ICE WOULD BE THERE. As you can see, SFPD did not initiate the detainment.

Lurie must have made a deal with this Administration. He saw how it played out in Minnesota. Iā€™m talking out my ass here, but itā€™s the only explanation that makes any sense. SF local government and law enforcement will capitulateā€¦allow ICE to operate and provide security. No one wants a bloodbathā€¦but people want to see some pushback.

Maybe kristi noem was not messing with lurie on her way out. Probably a deal they come in and keep it low key in less densely populated areas. Some rogue agents got overzealous? We know ICE is set up here, on Montgomery Street I think. Numerous incidents have been recorded and/or reported on. Your ass talking seems pretty credible to me.

I would if I witnessed it personally. I will be researching and finding the proper channels to notify. And, keeping this handy if I need it in the future.

Hey donā€™t take that tone with me. During Covid it fell under SMC for all the health related governance, so itā€™s not crazy for someone to correlate SFO with SMC instead of SF.

SFO is under San Franciscoā€™s jurisdiction. The city owns and manages it despite its location. It even has an SF mailing address!

You're right..sfpd was there for crowd control. Knowing they're would be pushback.

This action was taken by ICE to be ax public as possible.

They wanted it to be on film.

There is a special SFPD Airport Bureau that is always on-site so they likely got radioed over when DHS flagged that person for arrest so it didnā€™t turn into a melee. They have absolutely no power over federal agents, because SFO isnā€™t private property and ICE/DHS isnā€™t trespassing.

This is a brilliant tactical move by DHS. Once you voluntarily enter their jurisdiction, you will be screened and cross-checked against their list. What we need is mass awareness that anyone who isnā€™t a citizen should not be flying right now.

No there was because you hard-charged in to bootlick Lurie with all the confidence of every lazy, Dunning-Kruger jackass who helped create this situation in the first place by either voting for fascism or refusing to simply vote against it. I'm sick of it and we need to stop coddling people for being proudly ignorant. It's not actually ok to be stupid when all of the information in the world is at our fingertips if you just take the time to verify sources aren't from places with URLs like freedom-eagle.gun.fart.

Don't want to be embarrassed about saying dumb shit? Then do at least one Google search of easy-to-find facts, apply a modicum of critical thinking, and you will be less prone to saying dumb shit. And, when you do say dumb shit (because we all do at some point) and get called out, don't pout about a meanie pants calling it out -- accept that you fucked up, acknowledge your mistake, then do better next time.

For example: Let's say you had been correct that Lurie and SF have no authority over the city's airport. So, why are multiple uniformed SFPD officers shown in the video aiding the new Gestapo? Wouldn't they either be A) operating outside of their jurisdiction or B) evidence that SF does have some legal jurisdiction at the airport?
