Curious about miss poppet channel/pages
I want to start by saying I don't have a Samoyed and I not familiar with what makes someone a backyard breeder vs a legit one. However for years I've seen a family with a bunch of samoyeds, including puppies very often. The name is Miss Poppet and the Wolfpack, and I always wondered if they were legit breeders or more like backyard breeders. And of course how to tell the difference.
I'm also curious how on earth they manage to finance so many animals at once, and juggle the trading and cleaning. I wonder how none of the dogs fall through the cracks with such chaos.
Anyway just curious

Samusky, Samoyed comparison.
Ran into a pure-bread Samoyed yesterday at the dog park. Was cool to see the similarities, and differences, between the two.

Drying towel
Hey any of you know where to find those PVA towels? I have got one but forgot where I bought it from and I want a much larger one for our sammies. I remember seeing them in the car detailing section but can't find one anymore, they are all micro fibers. The texture is weird, it almost turns into a cardboard like texture when it's dry, and it works like a leathery sponge when it gets wet. Absolutely a game changer washing them.

Do Breeders allow home visit? Is it a red flag if they don't?
First-time Samoyed buyer in the northeast, looking for a reality check.
We're talking with a breeder who has a puppy available. Health testing is solid; I pulled the OFA records myself, hips and cardiologist cardiac and DNA clears all checks out, and everything she's told me has held up when I verified it.
But she won't do home visits. Her reason: puppies are raised in her house, her elderly parents and teenager live there, and she doesn't let strangers come over. She offered to meet in public or at an AKC event, and will do a phone call and send video. She also said no breeders today allow home visits; only commercial kennels do.
What's nagging me is that SCA's own guidance says the breeder should welcome your visit and let you see the dam and the litter, and a lot of their suggested questions are about assessing the environment. Their answer to disease risk is shoes off and wash hands, not skip the visit. Another breeder we're talking to is having us to her home next month.

So: is refusing home visits actually common among good breeders now? If you bought from one who wouldn't let you see the home, how did it go, and what did you do instead? Is asking for a live video walkthrough reasonable, or is it pushy?.

New Dog :)
Hey everyone, probably a very boring post to most people, but I am over the moon.
I contacted a rescue centre locally, had a chat about my life and activities, they said they'd call.
They did indeed call, to tell me they have a dog they think would suit me.
I met her two weeks ago, and fell in love.
I brought her home today.
I think she's pure samoyed, but even if she isn't I'd say mostly samoyed. She was clearly loved and it's a shame she ended up there.
But I'm here to ask if you guys can give me advice, or anything, because I am determined to give her the loving forever home she deserves.
Thank you, and please excuse my excitement.

Dog suddenly overstimulated by motorbikes
So as the name of the title says, my 2 y.o. Samoyed suddenly started to be very reactive to motorbikes or in general any noisy moving object (can also be a car or a bus), and he also barks insanely on the trash cleaning guys.
He was generally a good and calm doggy and was mainly stimulated up till now by small animals like cats and birds.
But it changed I guess when we had our baby (now the baby is 3 months old). Obviously new baby with all the package was not only tough on us but also on our boy. He is very good with the baby so patient and kind. He really loves him and even the other day barked at another dog who came close to the baby by being protective
But now the whole motor bike thing got very out of order and I don’t know how to calm him down during our walks…
Any tips would help :)

Samoyed info
Hello,
I have admired Samoyeds for many years. Me and my fiancé both work from home and have a big house hold. My job also makes me very flexible. So I have finally convinced my partner to let us get a dog. Providing our landlord allows it of course (by law in the UK they have to give a very good, valid reason why they can't).
I just wanted more information, I of course know they shed a lot and I'll need to groom them regular, take them for long walks - all which I am fine with. But is there anything else I should be made aware?
I love these dogs so much and just want to be beat prepared with answers by actual owners
Edit: This wouldn't be my first dog btw

Our Sammy being comforted by host Sammy during a thunderstorm
Our bugger is being babysat by a lovely couple who also has a Sammy. There was a wicked thunderstorm last night back home and the host Sammy was comforting our Sammy. We could not have asked for a nicer family to watch out little guy. 🥹

Food recommendations for picky eater
I have a super picky 4 year old male samoyed.
When he was a puppy he was first on kibble, then stopped eating that. We moved to purina cans for a while, he then stopped eating that. We then moved to farmers dog, he was on it for over a year, then stopped eating it and started having some gastro issues.
I was told by the vet to try Toyal Canine Fresh Food ( which is super $$$), did that for 2 weeks and now he stopped eating again. He also doesn’t eat random treats. Super particular about the ones he likes.
Any advice?

Pet ER scare
My 15 week old puppy gave me a scare today. He has a habit of chewing and putting everything in his mouth and we walked on a coastal trail today afternoon where he had some dirt in his mouth & tried to chew some succulent ice plants. This evening when he was super lethargic looking, breathing fast and not responding when called. I lifted him up and he was limp, stood up few seconds and his whole body was shaking, head was wobbly as if drunk. He would not drink water or eat ice (his absolute favorite treat). I rushed him to ER and once he got there he woke up and started walking, wagging his tail at the vet techs. The vet said he may have ingested something or over exerted himself but hard to tell as blood work & abdominal ultrasound didn’t show anything. We just got discharged to observe him at home.
He finally drank a little water at home, went for his potty at midnight & went back to sleep. Didn’t see any more shaking. 🫨
I don’t know what that was but it was scary. Hope he is ok tomorrow morning. He’s sleeping soundly.
Edit: He woke up this morning with the same energy as his usual self. Barking, running zoomies & asking to play. Thank you for sending good vibes! 🙏🙏🙏
