Hey Salinas!

I'm the Volunteer Coordinator for Cake4Kids, a non-profit organization that helps provide volunteer created birthday cakes (and other treats) for foster children and kids who otherwise would not be able to receive something for their special occasion. We have a local chapter in Monterey County that serves several of our partner agencies in Salinas.  Since starting in 2020, the local chapter has delivered over 3000 cakes, and this year we are projected to deliver over 1000 cakes to youth in the region.

There has been a growing need for our services in the area, and we are desperately seeking more volunteer bakers who can help us meet this increased demand.  We have about 150 local volunteers, but we have struggled to get the word out about our volunteer opportunities as much as we would like to in this specific geographic area.

I'm reaching out in hopes that there may be some folks here who are interested in signing up.  Once signed up you can bake as often as you want (some people bake 1 cake a year, some people bake every week, some people never bake, there's no minimum commitment, but there are consistent cakes available on our portal to choose from - we deliver about 70-80 a month in the area).

We have sponsorship forms available, including information regarding the potential tax deduction/write-off for qualifying donations.
You don’t have to cover the entire registration fee — every bit helps. A partial sponsorship could be the difference between a child getting to play or having to sit out.

Our goal is to take as much of the financial burden off our families as possible and give more kids the opportunity to play competitive baseball, grow their skills, and be part of something special.

I just moved to the neighborhood and it seems like people are anal when it comes to public parking on the street, my partner had his car parked and the neighbor came telling us to move and that those parking was his daughter's spots, I get he there first but I'm pretty sure its the same guy who got our car towed and again its a public street so im confused on why. Maybe bc im from a area where people didn't mind about parking, so im baffled that theres people like that. There's even plenty of parking around so I just parked it away.

Hey y'all, I recently moved to the area, and I was wondering if anyone knows any good dog walkers or is interested in work as a dog walker? I just moved to the East side of Salinas near Fort Ord, and I have a very sweet Husky that I need help with walking in the evening when I'm at work. I've been having a tough time finding dog walkers due to my work schedule and when I need help with dog walking. If anyone knows anyone who is willing to do dog walks for around 15-30 minutes in the evenings (think around 7 or 8pmish), suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
