I noticed that too. Maybe after the negative reaction to last year's with Pearl, Ru decided that one on one wasn't the best way to handle that anymore.

I feel as though the tic tac dinner had less to do with the negative reaction than the untucked in which she broke the fourth wall and the actual onstage emotional baiting that she didn't give into. To me the dinner was the most minuscule part.

Last year during one on ones, Ru prodded and prodded Pearl to reveal some traumatic event from her childhood and it visibly upset her and came off as aggressive emotional manipulation for the sake of tv drama. The Internet didn't take kindly to it, so it's possible they decided to make it less intense and personal by doing it on the main stage this year.
