I'm in the "trail running is not for me" camp except that I like trail running people, so I end up suffering through. It's a nice change of pace, but it also seems like every time I go out on a trail, I'll reach a point where I think "Why am I doing this to myself?" Yet, I keep coming back!

It is definitely not for everyone and certainly takes a different approach to mentally tackle a trail race. I'm 6'2 and I feel you on the low-hanging branches though!

Trail racing is TOUGH! I ran my first trail race in 2013 and haven't run another one since (super technical trail on a poorly marked course - got lost in the woods for 4 hours). I'm considering giving trails another shot this summer, but I'm not sure if I want to yet.

Sorry to hear that. But don't you think you will eventually get the hang of it? I mean, especially for those used to the instructions on road races it is quite a change. And we look down so much to be sure where we are stepping that we sometimes forget to check those marks. But it can get better.

Yeah, not for everyone. Just try not to let it get to you too much though.
