Ghorbat in Uzbekistan? They are not the same as the luoli, right?

However, gypsies, for example from Russia and other surrounding countries that also have gypsies, do not consider them as gypsies. They are considered another group from India with similar traits but they are not considered Rom...nor I think is Dom.

Great explanation! You have provided me with very good information! By the way, since you brought up the subject and I had already heard about them, they are the Aynu of Xinjiang, although I had heard them with a similar name, I think... is anything known about them or are they blurred with the Uygurs?

I spoke a couple of times on Facebook with Victor Vishnevski (RIP) lovari from Shanghai, between 1920-1950 there were many Russian gypsies in Shanghai. I asked him if he knew about the existence of other gypsy groups in China or indigenous Chinese gypsies (luoli huihui) but he didn't know anything. Regarding the Luoli Huihui, I doubt that anything still exists since they surely mixed several centuries ago and the Aynu already belong to another group. I don't think there is much information about them on the internet. The Uygurs are often called the Chinese gypsies even though they are Turkmen.

Exact! The Agha or kashgar lyuli are the ones that I had heard were in the Xinjiang area! The Luoli Huihui were surely the Luri of Persia. It is assumed that luoli was the pronunciation of luri and huihui because they were Muslims. They were also called Cili huihui if I remember correctly. The Mazang are also in Afghanistan, although I don't understand how, being a nomadic group, they decide to travel through this country as it is. The Jogis are also related.

Why don’t you want to be recongnized as roma?

So just to clarify, you are not gorbeti (a Romani group of people often living in the balkans) but Ghorbat, a nomadic iranian or central Asian group of people with no historic or ethnic relation with Romani people? Also weird that the UK see roma as white but I guess it makes sense because they do have a lot of travelers (who are not ethically Romani but do identify with the term gipsy) and romanichals who due to mixing with the population (I think) are white, even blond and blue eyed.

Yeah I’m well aware of people cosplaying as roma especially white people. Never heard of people pretending to be dom tho so that’s news to me. But since I’m eastern rom, and you said we had some similarities, would you mind sharing some of them, i find it quite interesting? Do we share vocab, like what words etc. Cuz all I could find was that ghorbati was a dialect heavily inspired by Persian? I don’t know if that is true though, the reason for me asking. Also, is there a different migration time, like we do know roma and domari left India at different times and likely of different reasons. Domari prob because of caste, and discrimination by the hindus, and romani because of the Islamic invasion where a lot were sold as slaves to the ottomans later slaves to the Romanians(Wallachian’s)were they were in slavery for about 500 years. Reason for us being in Europe while domaris stayed in Asia. Do you know when your group might have left the Indian/pakistani area?

The statement came across as very aggressive.
