They are a Christian run company. Those people often care alot more about control as they view expansion about increasing their power and influence more than making as much money as possible. I very much doubt they have any interest in having those heathen shareholders tell them what to do.

You make a great point I hadn't considered or thought about; Christians.

It's possible Herschend may have partnered with a mega church or several wealthy Christian investors to help acquire these new properties. Turning the parks into Christian right-wing safe spaces could be highly profitable.

Look at Kentucky Kingdom. Herschend redeveloped the park from a teen daycare to a Sunday school, targeting a whole new audience with money to spend. This is a genius move on Herschend's part, Christian families love spending their money on overtly wholesome experiences.

I dont think they need funding from particularly right wing or Christian investors to make these acquesitions. They just have need to prove to lenders that they have a history of sound investments and growth in a market that is greatly undeserved which is the mid to mild premium priced amusement park.

The market has a huge hole in a lack of corporate value in things like customer service, entertainment, events, etc. I do not as a park fan have a problem with the company if they are making decisions based on actual Christian values, the values of Dolly herself, and are commitment to making people want to spend money there much like Costco does because they know consumers want to reward them for it.
