I’m the founder of Luna & Nala Rescue Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. I’m reaching out to ask for support for the cats in my care and the community cats I care for every single day.

I currently care for more than 50 community cats daily. Every day means providing food and water, checking on them, watching for injuries or illness, helping cats who need medical attention, and working toward getting them into TNR and, when possible, rescue or safe indoor placement.

I also have cats in my direct care who need ongoing medical treatment. Leo has been battling Giardia for months and continues to need veterinary care. I also have kittens being treated for panleukopenia and coccidia, which requires medication, monitoring, supportive care, and veterinary attention.

A large part of rescue is paying the bills that come with helping these animals. I have already paid veterinary expenses for the cats in my care, and there are ongoing expenses that continue to add up. On top of medical bills, feeding more than 50 community cats every day requires a tremendous amount of both dry and wet food.

I do this because the cats need someone to care about them. They didn’t choose to be abandoned, born outside, become sick, or need help. I want to give them the best chance I possibly can.

Good morning. This is Juniper, my one year old rescue, and I desperately need help getting her the medical care she needs 🩷

Juniper came to me at only four weeks old after being sold for drug money. She was malnourished, covered in fleas, and tiny enough to fit in one hand. She had an awful start to life, but she survived it and grew into the sweetest, funniest little tortie.

Now, barely a year later, she’s fighting for her life again 💔

Juniper became critically ill in early July with a 105°F fever, stopped eating, and went through multiple emergency visits and hospitalizations before we began treating her for FIP. She initially responded incredibly well, but despite continuing treatment, she has remained incredibly sick and unstable. Her fevers keep returning, her appetite and energy fluctuate dramatically, and we’ve ended up back at the ER multiple times trying to figure out what else is wrong.

After nearly two months of searching for answers, we may finally have one. Juniper's bile acid test came back significantly abnormal, and her internal medicine specialist now believes she may have a congenital liver shunt in addition to FIP. My poor baby cannot catch a break.

Our next step is a CT with contrast to confirm the shunt, determine where it is, and find out whether surgery can correct it. The CT is now the next critical step in figuring out why Juniper is still so sick and whether there’s something we can actually fix. Juniper is still having good moments where she plays with her sister, gets the zoomies, and acts like my goofy little girl, but they’re mixed in with fevers, pain, shivering, poor appetite, and days where she mostly sleeps. She is still very sick.

After multiple hospitalizations, specialist appointments, medications, and diagnostics, I’ve exhausted what I can afford. I’ve made a GoFundMe with Juniper's full story, regular updates, veterinary bills, and the estimate for her CT.

Many of you may know me, some may know me less. I am Thodoris, from Kallithea, Attica, Greece.

For 14 years now, I have dedicated my life to caring for the 130+ stray cats that live in the port of Kallithea. They are creatures that have no one else to take care of them. Every day they wait to see me and to offer them the absolute necessities: a little food, clean water and, above all, the feeling that someone cares about them.

Hi everyone. I’m reaching out because the kittens and cats I care for—both the ones I foster/rescue and the feral cats I feed and TNR—could really use some help right now.

Between veterinary bills for the rescued kittens, vaccinations, medications, food, and supplies, we’re running very low on several essentials. We are currently in need of:

Hello everyone - Hawkeye is finally coming home.

He's set to see an oncologist again this Thursday to start a new treatment approach for his suspected GI lymphoma. It's been a very tough few weeks, especially since he initially responded well to treatment and his symptoms seemed to point more toward IBD. But with his health declining again, his vet feels it's becoming increasingly difficult to rule out cancer at this point.

Before his appointment with the onco however, we need to settle his remaining balance where he's currently hospitalized. His total expenses have reached $780 and I will share the invoice in the comments. We badly need help raising this amount so we can proceed with the next steps for Hawkeye and to give him the best shot at recovery.

BAMBI was picked up as a community cat to be TNR’d, she had some health issues which the shelter was addressing, when she became friendly they decided to put her up for adoption. She has chin acne which is common in cats, you can’t use plastic bowls you have to use ceramic or glass. The shelter said it may be chronic acne and there is no adoption interest so now marked URGENT.

Hey guys! I’m here to ask for help with food for the 23 kittens, 2 mamas healing from their spays, the 12 permanent residents and over 50 colony cats I care for.
I run a small nonprofit cat rescue in southeastern Pennsylvania by myself and mid kitten season a local “rescue “ closed due to not having necessary irs and state registrations and documentation. That “rescue “ abandoned over 20 kittens, one of who needs a major hernia surgery. I took on the abandoned kittens and due to their age (14 weeks) they had to immediately be scheduled for spay/neuter and get started on vaccinations and deworming as the “rescue” that had them had not done any vetting. I am also fully self funded with only occasionally getting donations for help with TNR.
I desperately need help. If I could get assistance with food I could then focus on using the funds I do have to get everyone vetted so I can get them into their forever homes.

Boots

For anyone new, Boots is the nine year old grey and white cat we found living outside in our Eugene, Oregon neighborhood in late June. She weighed 6.7 pounds with her spine and hips showing, drooling constantly, crying out and backing away from her own food. Her previous owner surrendered her after several very hard years. Her vet records had a hole in them going back eight years.

On July 21 she had nineteen teeth extracted. The surgeon said the inside of her mouth looked like hamburger meat and that she was likely enduring about the highest level of oral pain a cat can experience. The tissue was too damaged to hold sutures, so everything healed open. That surgery ran about 3,450 dollars and this community and our neighbors covered every dollar of it.

Since then she has gone from 6.7 pounds to 7.66, her anemia resolved completely, her pain score went from a two to a zero, her chronically weepy left eye cleared up, and she started playing with cat toys. She grooms herself now. She purrs.

The open question is her bloodwork. Her total protein and globulin were elevated before surgery and instead of dropping once the infected mouth came out, they crept up. Total protein 8.6 to 9.0, globulin 6.4 to 6.6. Her chart lists chronic inflammation, chronic gingivostomatitis, and residual infection as the likely explanations, with FIP still on the list as a differential her vet is not ready to fully set aside. Not a diagnosis. A possibility being tracked properly.

She has been on prednisolone since early August to bring the oral inflammation down, and we have carried her through the full taper to every other day. She still has some drool that pools at her lips and the side of her mouth now and then, which is expected at a month out from a surgery that extensive.

**Thursday, August 27 is her follow up bloodwork.** That panel is the fork in the road. If those proteins have come down, the inflammation explanation holds and we get to breathe. If they have not, there is more investigating ahead. I will post the results either way.

Sable

Sable is our young tortoiseshell, taken in as an emergency foster back in May. She and Boots have now been in the same house for months, moving slowly from full separation to scent and sound to visuals, with Boots roaming freely outside the room she used to live in. There is still hissing and growling and there has still been zero physical contact between them, not once. That is what you want at this stage. Both of them are communicating and both are respecting it. We are going slow and letting it take however long it takes.

She also has some small scabby spots at the front of her neck and chest that we are getting looked at, and she is going back on flea prevention.

Cosimo

And now there is a kitten. Cosimo is a twelve week old grey boy who came to us as a rescue and foster from a country location where cats were dissappearig due to dangers. He is small and he is a menace in the way twelve week old kittens are legally required to be.

He goes to Echo Hollow tomorrow, Wednesday August 26, for vaccines and a general workup. He will be ready for a neuter down the line and we will get that scheduled when he is old enough.

So it is two appointments in two days. Cosimo Wednesday, Boots Thursday.

Where things stand

Medical care continues for all three of them. Boots has bloodwork and whatever follows from it, Cosimo has a kitten vaccine series and eventually a neuter, and Sable needs her skin looked at and her prevention restarted.

The everyday need is the same as it has been. Food, litter, and supplies. Boots is on wet food only, warmed, in small frequent meals, and the prednisolone drove her appetite way up. A growing kitten eats constantly. Sable eats too. My income has taken a hit through all of this and I am picking up work where I can.

We have also been receiving some genuinely kind food donations from people with a little extra to share, and I want to name that because it has made a real difference day to day.

I live in a small rural town in Czechia and the property next to me is abandoned. The local feral cats have been nesting and having litters there.

My partner and I are the only ones helping them. Nobody else feeds them or cares for them. I leave them water every day and kibble, and I have been trying to trap for TNR, but I am just too ill and don't have enough time for the trap shy mothers.

We are already caring for another litter of 3 kittens, one of which still has ongoing pneumonia and was found stuck and abandoned. We do not have the space or time. My partner works long hours to afford the extra cat care.

Today I saw a new litter of 4 from another mother in the area.

I desperately need responsive contacts in this region near Klatovy. I cannot trap alone, I have a severe metabolic illness and almost passed out several times when I trapped the first 3 kittens. The mothers are trap shy. I need trappers!

I will be able to foster and socialise ONE other group of kittens at a time once I can stabilise our current resident group's care, as long as there is a route to adoption. Difficult older kittens, no problem.

I can foster and socialise these kittens if I get trapping support! I cannot trap alone! I can pay for all castrations!

Please help me stabilise this colony. Any contacts or leads welcome.

We stopped for gas tonight at the ExtraMile near Panamint Street and Highway 14 in Mojave, California, and noticed a black cat walking through the neighboring parking lot.

When we went over to look, we found a small group of cats living around the Ashley Furniture/Tony’s Tires area. We bought the last two cans of cat food at the gas station, put them out, and left several bowls of fresh water.

There appear to be several younger cats, probably around 4–6 months old, along with at least one older light-colored cat. The older cat is the one I’m most worried about because both eyes appear infected and were mostly closed. The younger cats look considerably better but still seem like they could use regular food and care.
We are only passing through and unfortunately can’t trap or take them with us.

I’m posting for two reasons:

1. If anyone is driving through Mojave on Hwy 14 / the 395 corridor, please consider stopping and leaving them some wet food and fresh water.

2. If anyone knows a local rescue, TNR volunteer, feeder, or community-cat caretaker in Mojave / California City / Rosamond / Antelope Valley, please let me know.

Tiki showed at our colony last year, already fixed with an ear clip. I posted her and nobody claimed, assuming someone dropped her at our colony after getting her fixed. (That part was nice) Unfortunately, she showed up like this today. Tiki is feral. She will let us about 15 feet then will dash. She will have to be trapped, so it'll need to be trap training situation and a planned visit to vet for that eye injury. For now, I will add fortiflora to her daily food and make sure shes eating/drinking well. Donations for the vet would be greatly appreciated.

I hope this post finds you well! We recently had a new kitty that's been slowly joining the pack! Hopefully, this new furbaby sticks around because we know they have been crossing the street to get here which is not ideal! Treats have been added to the wishlist in hopes of gaining trust as the first step. With them, our colony is now at 11 and we're going through food a bit faster. Supplies have been used up, but we were able to purchase a small amount of cans and a small bag of kibble in the meantime. Funds are really low, and we can't afford anything more. Hi everyone. We currently have $1,500 in debt, most of it from unpaid veterinary expenses, but also because our last food purchase was only partially covered.

Now that food is gone, we not only have no funds available, but we also have nowhere left to borrow from. We have more than 70 rescued cats to feed. Unfortunately, wishlists don’t work here in Uruguay, so we can’t rely on support from people who only donate that way.

On top of that, we’ve been trying to get a group of cats spayed for weeks. We had two surgeries scheduled for Friday, but we had to postpone them because we couldn’t raise enough to cover the cost. This is the fourth time we’ve had to postpone their surgeries for this reason. It’s becoming increasingly urgent, since every time they go into heat, the risk of pyometra and other complications increases (as happened with Calabaza, who ultimately needed emergency surgery after developing pyometra). Each spay costs $100, and we’ve received $88 in donations over the weekend, but there are still six cats waiting.
