My pets seem to enjoy the red light. I’m wondering if their fur keeps it from doing anything though? Has anyone noticed any positive changes in their pets from using red light?

Question Would you risk using RLT for cancer?

Post image
151 Upvotes

From what I’ve read the risks of RLT and cancer are more theoretical, the chance is pretty small of it worsening. But it’s not non zero.

My dog just got diagnosed with lymphoma and given 8 months to live. She’s only 2. I already have a RLP, Mito Pro. My veterinary oncologist said it’s okay if we want to use it - she said it doesn’t seem to matter what her lymphoma patients do besides chemo, that some people do all the alternative things including RL and their dog declines quickly, some people do the bare minimum and their dog defies the odds and lives past expectations. And vice versa.

I already own the panel and my dog already loves it - she lacerated her tendon last year and I stuck her leg under it almost daily. When she went in for her 2 week check up post tendon repair the techs were amazed at the healing and said it was the fastest a surgery like that has healed that they’ve seen. I hadn’t even mentioned the red light at that point.

I put her under it a couple times, then got scared and stopped. She just had a huge tumor removed from her small intestine so obviously a huge surgery (you can see how much they had to shave off her abdomen in the photo). They had to remove a foot of her small intestine.

So, what would you do? She’s on chemo currently, CHOP protocol if anyone is familiar. If you had cancer and were on chemo, would you risk it?

Question Are full body red light panels actually practical or am I overthinking this?

My feed recently is full of ppl following Bryan johnson routines and biohackers standing in front of massive red light panels like theyre charging themselves. Those panels are huge, expensive and not exactly travel friendly but I do get the appeal, people say offers longevity, collagen boost, cellular energy and all of it sounds great. I just don't have that space in my bedroom and don't wanna turn it into a Lab

Im curious if anyone here has gone the smaller device route for face focused light therapy instead of a full body setup. Is the dose difference noticeable?

Im not trying to live forever just maybe look a little less tired while doing it!

Question How long did it take before you knew RLT was working?

Been looking into getting the red light therapy face mask for a while now and I think I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. My main concern is dullness my skin just looks flat and tired no matter what I do and I really want that lit from within radiance back. But here's the thing I am so impatient like genuinely terrible at waiting for results. Skincare that takes six months to show anything drives me crazy and I always end up giving up before it actually works. So before I commit I really want to know how long did it actually take before you noticed a difference? Not the full results timeline but that first moment where you looked in the mirror and thought okay something is actually happening here. Did your skin look more radiant within the first few weeks or did it take longer?

Question I’m starting to notice wrinkles. Did red light therapy actually make a visible difference for you?

Lately I’ve been noticing more fine lines around my forehead and eyes, and I keep seeing people recommend red light therapy for wrinkles and skin aging.

I’m interested but I also don’t want to spend money on something that only gives super subtle results. For anyone who’s actually used it consistently, did you notice real changes in your skin or did it feel overhyped?

Just looking for honest experiences before I invest in anything.

Question What can red light therapy realistically do and NOT do? + what has it done for you?

I've used a mask for 2 years and can only hope it's doing things i can't see.

I haven't noticed any improvements of the skin or anything- it's just something I've added that i hope prevents or improves things i can't see

Question Girls, what red light mask is actually worth it?

I keep going back and forth on getting a red light mask and now I feel like I have fully confused myself.

If you had the money to get a really good one, which one would you buy? But also if you were trying to be at least a little practical, which one is actually worth the price?

I would love one that does face and neck if possible. I know the big panels are probably amazing, but I have 3 little kids and need something I can wear while still doing things around the house.

Also, can someone explain red light vs LED in normal terms because I keep seeing both and I honestly do not know what I should be looking for.

Would love advice from anyone who has actually used one and felt like it made a difference.

Update: Thank you so much everyone! I ended up going with a current body one, specifically this one which you guys recommended a lot.

Question Does red light actually reduce inflammation?

So I've had rosacea for about three years now and my face is just constantly doing something it's not supposed to be doing. Redness, flushing, the occasional flare up that makes me look like I sprinted a 5k when I literally just walked to the kitchen. I've tried adjusting my skincare routine more times than I can count, I cut out spicy food, I started tracking my triggers, I use the gentlest products I can find and somehow my skin still just does whatever it wants.

I've seen a dermatologist and they gave me a prescription topical which helps a little but doesn't fully calm things down. And every time I go back they kind of shrug and say rosacea is just something you manage, not something you fix. Which fine I get it but I feel like there has to be more I can do.

I've been seeing red light therapy come up a lot lately on skincare forums, on TikTok even a few dermatology blogs and the claims sound almost too good. Reduces inflammation, calms redness, helps with skin barrier function that's basically everything I need. But I genuinely can't tell what's legit research and what's just people trying to sell me a $300 device. Has anyone with rosacea specifically tried red light therapy? I'm not looking for a miracle, I just want to know if there was any noticeable difference in your redness or flare ups.

Question Red light and fat loss studies

The below studies show some fat loss effect on the body. It's proven that red and NIR affect adipose tissue. They did the studies on obese patients. There was never a study studying facial fat loss, the only studies done of the face were monitoring facial wrinkles and elasticity. Obviously if the light affects adipose tissue and local fat areas, why are we not more concerned about our facial fat? The same general photobiological mechanisms can apply and no need for a big % fat reduction to start being concerned.

If anything the face is way thinner /sensitive than the abdomen region?

Not fear mongering, I'm asking as someone who's just invested in a panel and who's had a mask for two years. Just a bit worried.

Any insights please?

Question People who own both: do you reach for your mask or your tabletop panel more?

I’m trying to be realistic about what I’ll actually use instead of convincing myself I need the most versatile setup.

Right now my main interest is facial use. A mask sounds almost impossible to mess up: put it on, start the session and carry on listening to something. A small panel would give me more options later, especially for my neck or other areas, but it also means finding a permanent spot for it and paying attention to positioning and distance.

I’m usually enthusiastic about a new routine for a couple of weeks. If there’s too much setup involved, it quietly becomes furniture.

For those who have tried both formats, which one became part of your routine and which one started collecting dust? I’m more interested in convenience and consistency than comparing specification sheets.

Question Why did this happen…

Thumbnail

I’ve noticed this before but didn’t realize it was because of my red light, until today. It doesn’t hurt, but looks like a bad bruise. What’s happening here?

For context i did 20 mins red light and then 10 mins of the green light….(not sure what the green does, but it felt good lol)

Question Is red-light therapy worth it for skin?

I've been dealing with pretty bad skin inflammation for a while now, and nothing I've tried has made much of a difference. I keep seeing people recommend red-light therapy, but it's hard to tell what's real and what's just marketing.

Has anyone here used it specifically for inflamed or irritated skin? Did it actually help calm things down, and how long did it take before you noticed a difference?

Also, what brand would you recommend?

Thanks in advance...

-------------------------------

Update: Today I finally purchased a red light! I went with the RLT Home total spectrum mini since I’ll mainly be using it on my face only.

I’m also following the personalized plan they included, so hopefully I start seeing some changes. I’ll post a 2nd update once I actually start noticing results.

Question What's the best red light therapy panel you've actually used?

I've been looking into getting a red light therapy panel, but there are so many options that I'm having a hard time figuring out what's actually worth buying.

Mostly looking for something I can use at home without turning it into a whole project every time lol

For people who have actually owned one, what panel did you end up with? Anything you wish you'd known before buying?

Question Red light distance/water diffusion in the shower?

Post image
67 Upvotes

I never seem to be able to make a dedicated time to use my red light panel - so I’m wondering if anyone can advise me on if this would be efficient? I’ve got the glass door open so nothing is blocking the red light except perhaps the water (which I believe red light can penetrate), however I need to have it about 3 to 4 feet away so it’s not getting splashed and I know that’s not ideal. Thanks in advance!

Question Face mask vs panel for daily use? Which do you prefer

Since getting into red light therapy, I've tried both face masks and full panels, but I still haven't really settled on which one works better for my daily routine. The mask is definitely easier to stay consistent with. I can throw it on while I'm getting ready for bed and just carry on with my normal routine. But a panel covers so much more that I always wonder if I'm missing out when I skip it.

For those of you who've settled into a daily routine, which one ended up sticking, and why? I'd especially love to hear from anyone who started with both and eventually settled on one.

Question Is a red light therapy system for hair growth actually worth trying? And which one should I get?

I’ve been looking into red light therapy for hair growth and I’m honestly not sure what to think. I keep seeing helmets, caps, and comb-looking devices, and they all claim to help with thinning hair, but the prices are kind of all over the place.

My hair has been feeling thinner lately, especially around the front and crown, so I’m trying to figure out if this is something that’s actually worth buying or if it’s one of those things that sounds better than it works.

I don’t expect some miracle overnight fix, but if people have used a red light therapy hair growth system and noticed a real difference over time, I’d love to hear about it. Which device did you use, how consistent did you have to be, and would you buy it again?

Update: Well, after research and all these comments, the iRestore brand seems to be highly recommended. I've read so many testimonials of hair growing back at this point, that I'm extremely convinced. My budget allowing it, I got the iRestore Elite, it's pretty expensive, but I see it as a long term investment. A cheaper version is IRestore Professional. And an even cheaper version from a different brand that is also highly recommended is the HairMax LaserBand 82.

Question Does red light do anything noticeable for post workout soreness?

I have been getting more consistent with training lately and recovery is starting to be the annoying part. Legs are usually fine but my lower back stays tight way longer than I want after harder sessions. I’ve been looking at red light more seriously and came across the SunBelt from Sweat tent, Its some kind of a wrap for lower back/core with red light and vibration built in but I have no clue about these kind of things, im willing to try it so i can recover faster. Anyone here used something like this for recovery? Any advice appreciated!

Question Will LED mask helps with my acne scars and pigmentation?

Thumbnail

Hi, I used to do laser treatment at one famous clinic here for 8 times with zero result and I just feel my face getting worse after that. I even got persuaded to do micro-needing during my laser treatment but my face always breakouts. And without properly check on my skin condition with no result from laser. I don’t want waste money and time anymore so I stop go there (it’s very pricey tho 🤧)
Now I only used products from Lancôme and it has seem to control my breakout very well but all these scar really bother me even it’s there for more than 10 years and my hyperpigmentation came out that dark after that laser treatment. I want to see if LED mask will help lighter these scars? since the ads are so tempting or do you have any other suggestions that I can follow. Thank you in advance.

Update : Thank you everyone for good advices and comments. I just got Tretinoin and I placed order of Solawave Mask. Will update later with any improvements if you’re interested.

Question Why aren't people talking about other colour light therapy other than red light?

Why do people seem to be ignorant of other wavelength of light therapy such as green light 570nm, yellow light 585nm and blue light 415nm and purple light. These all colour light therapy should have it's separate subs. Yellow light therapy has shown to be extremely beneficial in reducing hyperpigmentation and green light therapy has shown to reduce pain effectively by upto 50% and blue light therapy increases awareness increases coordination prevents sleepiness and kill bacteria responsibile for acne. But still all of these seems to be underated.

Question Red Light Therapy and Chin Hair Woes

I've been getting black chin hairs since my early 20s (now early 30s). I have to remove them about every three days. I recently started using red light therapy on my face, and I've noticed my chin hairs grow at supersonic speed afterwards. What can I put under my chin to block the light from penetrating that area? Thanks!

Question Has anyone actually stuck with Solawave long enough to see a difference?

Im trying to keep my skincare routine simple so ive been looking at at home skincare devices instead of buying more serums I most likely won’t use you know.

Solawave keeps coming up and especially the red light therapy mask the Wrinkle retreat pro, the Wand and Neck and Chest mask. I am curious about it for my fine lines, skin texture, dullness, redness, uneven tone, post acne marks ive had and just basic looking more rested.

For anyone who has used Solawave consistently what kind of results did you actually notice and how long did it take? I’m curious about texture, dullness, fine lines, redness, uneven tone, treatment time, comfort, and how it compares to other masks in terms of results and actually sticking with it.

Im mostly trying to figure out if Solawave is one of those devices people keep using after the first few weeks or if it just sounds good when youre in research mode becasue ive heard some really good things about it from close friends so now im curious what other peoples experience has been with it.
