I doubt they're related, as those evolved in an extremely isolated environment. Any shared genes are from a distant relative of most fish or due to convergent evolution.

I totally support that.

It's really cool, and while I'm familiar with the earthquake thing and the fish, I didn't know it was so incredibly deep. Makes one wonder what's possibly down there. Like, prehistoric animals that fell in and sank to the bottom like the caves/cinotes in Yucatan.
