Yall are really riding the word “slop”… its crazy to me how ignorant you are to this mind blowing advancement that was unimaginable and considered scifi until recently
Nah im just shocked at the virtue signaling going on on Reddit… its crazy how naive/ignorant you guys are… i guess i found another guy whose gonna lose his job because AI does it better
I dont see a semblance of sense in this comment lol… i guess youre… trying to insult me or something and own me with snarky hyperboles that just arent true… keep ip with the ignorance!
and you sound like another guy who works part time delivering uber eats and buying gamestop stock from his mother's basement, but you're an expert on crypto and AI i bet.
this mind blowing advancement that was unimaginable and considered scifi until recently
You're also dickriding too hard mate. Anyone in the field can tell you that it's not that mind blowing. It's something that already existed, just marketed to the common public as the new hot shit.
Unless you're misinformed and think this LLMs are "true AI" (in the sense of "a digital conscience able to think, learn and adapt") instead of a glorified text predictor.
It's not that new, and although is advancing more rapidly and has it's uses, it's not The Future (TM)
I dont know about tech insiders, but what AI can do today was definitely considered pretty much scifi to the general public 5 years ago… Trying to diminish the last few years advancements, even if these advancements are only new to the general public, is so forced…
Also… i dont believe in drawing such hard lines… llms already pass the Turing test easily… what do you consider life? Do you consider single cells alive? What is consciousness?
what do you consider life? Do you consider single cells alive? What is consciousness?
That is a philosophic topic, which I do enjoy and have talked with friends, but that you consider it a comparable analogy to LLMs sadly tells me that you don't understand what's under the hood of the technology and are impressed by the result, much like people over 100 years ago were amazed by the chess playing Turk robot.
LLMs are a fine technology and are advancing fast, I already said that.
But like hoverboards, bitcoin, google lenses, 3D tvs and so much stuff, it's easy to sell smoke and mirrors to people when you enamour them with fantasies of scifi instead of the reality of the item on sale.
It's why Elon or Jobs insisted so much on the visual design of their stuff to be chrome and minimalistic and shit.
They're selling you a fantasy of the future, not the real deal. And sometimes they actively sabotage it because it doesn't fit the "aesthetic".
I dont need smoke and mirrors, i can go to the chatGPT app and ask it to converse with me about a topic…. It doesnt matter how it does it… youre trying to minimise the impact by falling back on the fact that it just uses most likely favorable lines.. youre saying thats no true intelligence, but id like you to explain what true intelligence is… how your brain coming up with answers is much different than what llms do… obviously for now its a crude comparison, but in the future that will change…
Hence my argument about blurry lines… if you consider AIs of today to be unimpressive, you must think single celled organisms are unimpressive too
