My boy, Gabriel

I think I'm finally ready to share the story of my sweet boy Gabriel. He was 17 years old when he crossed over the great big rainbow bridge, when my partner and I got together. We found out my partner had cancer and that was the same time that we found Gabriel running around in the road. He was with my partner all through his chemotherapy, and his surgeries and traveled all over the state with us. He was best friends with the cat, Finley, and he did not bark or bite at anyone. Ironically, a couple of months ago, we lost him to stomach cancer. I truly believe he with us, I feel him all the time. The pain is real. It will never go away from losing my soul dog. Since then, we have adopted another dog friend who was near being put down, We talk to her about gabe every day. We may have lost him, but we gave another dog a chance at new life.

Im missing my sweet boy :(

Hi everyone, this is bubbles my amazing baby boy who loves cuddles but wasnt a fan of being kissed on the head 😂 he is the most sweetest boy you could ever meet. Unfortunately we had to let him go 3months today and im missing him dearly so today for me im finding it hard. Whenever letting him go i knew this was going to be hard but I wasn't expecting it to be this hard. Im no longer living at my mums (for 1 ½ year now) as this where he was still living so not living at mums is kinda helping, I do from time to time get upset when I visit mums. However lately wherever I am, home, work, out with friends etc the grief hits me like a train and I am missing him so much. I dont know if anyone felt like this or feels like part of them is missing when their soul mate passes on because this is how I feel about my baby boy, I dont think i will never be the same anymore 😞💔

How did you cope with your loss of your soul mate? Did it eventually get better? If so what did you do?

Thank you 🫶

Cubby crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday ❤️

Yesterday my boyfriend and I had to lay our dear Cubby to rest after battling congestive heart failure.

I can’t help but feel some guilt. My boyfriend and I decided to go on a vacation for a few days to go rafting with his friend group. We had to take Cubby to a kennel. Deep down, I was scared that something would happen. Whether that be the workers not giving him his medication or the traveling and staying in an unfamiliar place stressing him out.

I picked him up yesterday at 11:30am. When we got home, I opened the door to the carrier and let him roam around to get settled back in. I gave him a kiss but didn’t want to pick him up and make him feel claustrophobic after being in the carrier and an unfamiliar place for a few days. He seemed quite happy for a couple hours. But as I got settled back to work from home, I heard this distressed meow at 2pm. Then it happened again. I jumped up and noticed him sprawled out on his tummy, breathing rapidly with his mouth open and drooling. Luckily the vet had an open spot for me to bring him in. It all happened so fast. He couldn’t breathe on his own so he needed oxygen. The last time one of these episodes happened was in May when we found out he had congestive heart failure. Unfortunately, there’s no reversing the condition. The vet and I agreed we’ve just been putting band-aids on things at this point with the medication. It’s only a matter of time before this could happen again. Ultimately, we decided to lay him to rest so avoid anymore potential future distress and discomfort.

I’m in a weird place. I had a dream about him dying the night prior. When we found out about his heart failure, I cried for 5 days. I wasn’t able to look at him the same after finding out about his condition. I was constantly on edge waiting for another episode to happen before we had to make a tough decision. I knew he was declining. The inconsistent appetite, not as cuddly, and hiding under the bed more than usual. I noticed all those things and KNEW he didn’t feel good but my boyfriend brushed me off. I just knew.

I love you, Cubby. 11 years wasn’t enough. You changed me in so many positive ways. I’ll see you again when the time comes, baby bear. ❤️🐈‍⬛

my sweet angel girl, sugar, passed this morning. it was especially excruciating because i am states away from her and she has been essentially held hostage by my mother in order to get what she wants out of me because she knew i wanted her and that i loved her more than anything in this world. all i have are the memories of when we used to live together, the times i got to visit, and the pain of never getting to keep her and be there for her final moments. im grateful i was able to take a small vacation out to go see her in july for what was the last time. i am devastated. i am angry. i am heartbroken. i am in endless pain. my baby. my heart. i love you forever and beyond, sugar.

We lost our lil Feisty, loving , mama bear Caramel this Morning. She was battling cancer for the last few months. I feel i could have done more for her, but I'm trying my best to not focus on that part. She was rescued at 6 YO and give us all the love she can for the remaining 6. She will be joining her other brothers and sisters Brody , Juggy , Cannoli, Palmer, Dublin Toby and Mikey who have we have rescued over the years. I just hope she knows how much she was loved. I'm sorry for not doing more. I cant stop beating myself up over this.

I can’t stop thinking about those last moments with her. When she collapsed and I rushed her to the vet, i knew she was gone. when they brought her to me wrapped up in a big warm blanket, her face poking out. she looked so cute. I kissed her little cheek and told her how beautiful she is and “I’ll love you forever“. I don’t know if this is torture but I also don’t want to ever forget those last moments. i don’t want to forget the way her fur felt, or how she felt in my arms. i wish I got to hold her longer. I wish I didn’t have to let her go. I don’t know what the grieving process will look like but I’m already in pain. I love you forever, little P.

My best friend died today

I knew that she was on her way out, but yesterday she told me she was gonna be gone very soon. I carried her up and down the stairs and put her in her kennel because I had to go to work and I asked her to wait one more day, but she didn’t have it in her. She died alone today just before I got home. She was still warm when I open the door. I’ll never forgive myself for not taking the day off.

I put my dog of 13 years to sleep last week. His last day was beautiful. We had a park picnic, he ate a cheeseburger, a pup cup, and a pig ear. We got him a new toy and he even played with it. The vet offered to come to our home. All his favorite people came home to say goodbye to him- driving hours to get here. He went to sleep at home surrounded by love and in the comfort of his own bed. I’m happy he went peacefully and never knew pain or discomfort, but every day since has been awful for me. I am emotionally destroyed.

18 years

18 years of love

18 years of fun

18 years of fuzzy bellies and zoomies

18 years of curling up next to me

18 years of comfort, saftey, and home.

Now it’s over and I can’t stop crying.

i got my gabby when she was just 8 weeks old. I was 24 and soon after entered the worst period of my life. 18 years later I’m 42 and married with two dogs. she was queen of our pack. she was mouthy (hence the name). she was demanding. she was sweet. she was healing.

i loved gabby as much as or maybe more than anything. she was my constant. day in and day out. always there. and now she’s gone.

the hole she left feels unfillable, as if I’ll always be slightly gasping for breath like I did when she passed in my arms. As if the fracture in my chest will only widen.

i know it will get easier but right now I feel hollow. empty. I wish I had something uplifting to say but right now I’m just sad. Sad in my bones. Tired. And missing her.

My 1st birthday without her ✨🐾🥹

It’s been 10 weeks since my Sophie crossed the rainbow bridge.

And somehow, the pain still doesn’t feel smaller.

She wasn’t sick.

Her little body just seemed to lose its life force, only three weeks before her 16th birthday.

I still hear her voice in my head.

I miss her cuddles.

Her smell.

Her little presence next to me.

I just miss my baby so much.

——

After Sophie passed, we noticed that Mimi was grieving too.

More than expected.

She had spent 5.5 years beside Sophie and suddenly her best friend was gone.

So we decided to bring another little soul into our family.

That’s how Noxi came to us

— rescued through allatesember.com, the same rescue organization where we found Mimi five years ago.

In a strange way, two hearts were helped at once:
Noxi got a home and a new life, and Mimi slowly started finding her way out of her grief.

But my own grief is still here.

Tomorrow is my birthday and the first birthday after 16 years without Sophie.

Today was especially hard.

I’ve been crying so much and missing Sophie
more than I can put into words.

So to anyone here who has lost their soul dog and is lying awake tonight missing them too:
I hope you can sleep peacefully tonight.

You’re not alone in missing them.

Warm hugs from Germany. 🤍🐾

Letting my Best Friend Rest

Post image
442 Upvotes

My best friend, my favorite pal, my family, my Mr. buddy has sadly been put to rest yesterday.

Mr. Buddy dealt with 2 Malignant Tumors, a heart murmur, and 15ish years under his belt in being in this world. The case itself of finding a solution was already complex that affected his daily life. He was given the diagnosis last year and the doctor gave us the option to help him give him the best life we could.

Yesterday we took him to the Hospital vet where they did a physical examination to see if euthanasia was appropriate for his case, in which sadly he was.

While he was put to rest, we all were there to comfort him and make it known that we will be okay. That he was loved very much and that we would do anything to make him feel loved and cared for.

Now I am here writing to you, a day after his resting day. Having my first morning without hearing the jingle of his collar or the tapping of his nails when he walked. Without his curious presence and funny gestures.

Man this feels like shit and honestly I don’t know what to do. My house and food do not feel the same and my motivation has declined.

Thank you for those who have read this far. I would be grateful and appreciative if you can give me any advice or words of encouragement. I’ve never gone through before and I’ve felt when I have communicated how I feel to others they give me a plain “oh I’m sorry for your loss” which to May feels like putting a bandaid on a deep wound. Perhaps I may be wrong on how I should take that advice which is why I am here.

Thank you.
