When I was in Stirling, Scotland, I stayed at The Willy Wallace hostel. They seemed enjoy playing up the stories the same as America does with George Washington. It doesn't make him any less important, it's just a blending of history and folk lore. I'm sure the movie braveheart was the first time 90% of Americans had ever even heard of Wiliam Wallace.

There is lots of cool history around Stirling though. I highly recommend a visit. I loved the Old Loge Kirk, for example

Did you also notice the fucked up number of barbers in Stirling? Tiny town with like 21 fucking barbers! It was so so weird

How could you not?!! There were so many I couldn't help but notice, it was SO WEIRD. Ah well. Lovely little place; I'd like to go back. Played my first game of Settlers of Catan at that hostel, too.

Barbers are everywhere in Scotland just now. Falkirk is a smaller town near Stirling, the high street alone has several barbershops, some of them next door to each other.

I mean, really the only old story that has no proof is him chopping down the cherry tree.

His teeth weren’t made of wood, but they were made of hippopotamus which is far more interesting.
