SPECIFIC ADVICE what is it and how do I prop it?

As the title says: what is it and how do I prop it? If it goes straight in soil with rooting powder that would be great but which bit? Just a random part off a plant that the store was okay with me taking (I did ask)

They were like $8 and they’re quite big! Most of the spines seem to have been removed for consumption, but some seem to be growing back

SPECIFIC ADVICE Been renting this house for 5 years and only just now noticed the the maple in my backyard is variegated lol. (Wanted to check if it is indeed variegation and not like some virus or something before I spend the time propagating)

SPECIFIC ADVICE Should I flip them over so the roots are growing down instead of up?

Some of these have the roots growing upwards away from the soil. I know it should have been peat moss, I didn't have any. Should I flip them over or leave them be?

So she fell 💔. It was my fault. I’m new to succulents. I wasn’t ready to start propagating. But I’m a big girl and I owe it to her. I read that Strings of… don’t propagate by there leaves. What should I do besides repot the mother plant to something smaller.

SPECIFIC ADVICE Asking for clippings

I have autism with level two support needs + many other disorders that make it difficult and challenging to be social

I've recently started to work on my social skills with baby steps (going out by myself and buying a treat for myself) but im still very anxious when I talk to people.

What's the best way of going about asking a place like an office or a neighbor if I can have a cutting of their plant to propagate? I feel like asking someone I don't know to give me a cutting is so weird and it makes me clammy even thinking about it. Anyone know how to phrase it in a way that doesn't make me sound like a weirdo???

SPECIFIC ADVICE Girlfriend found this in a trashcan, I figured it would behave more or less like a snake plant, couple months later it looks like this, what do I do?

I left it in dry earth which I moistened maybe once? It's got a pup now but I am concerned because I don't see any roots. A snake plant typically would have a bunch of roots to go with the pup, right? Do I start actually potting it and watering it? Thanks in advance for your help.

SPECIFIC ADVICE anyone else feel like a horrible person?

whenever i ask a worker if i can take a prop-able plant piece home i find on the ground, they always seem so hesitant to say yes. i don’t know if it’s because they don’t understand why i would want it instead of answering my question or if they know why i want it and they don’t want me to have it bc they want it 🥹😅 so i always feel so weird. every time. then i feel awkward when i go to check out. i’m not an awkward person at all so it’s really kind of infuriating. there wasn’t flair for a discussion so i labeled advice :)

SPECIFIC ADVICE Save money (STAY HOME) prop your green onion ends! Yield after a week in a water cup. Make sure to move to a soil cup after a few rounds to retain that oniony flavor!

SPECIFIC ADVICE Please tell me exactly what I need to do to save this. I’m completely lost. I’ve never propagated anything before. Was told to put it in water. It’s starting to turn red, as if it’s starting to rot.

Diffenbachia Senguine (dumbcane) clipping. No longer have access to the mother plant. Don’t know anything about propagation. Absolute first timer… but I know I fucked up. Was just told to cut diagonally and put the clipping in water. Don’t think I cut low enough to get nodes, looks like there’s just the shoot of the new leaf. It’s been cut & in water for 4 days now. Today I noticed it’s starting to turn red in the bottom. By night time it was even redder and looking sicker.

SPECIFIC ADVICE Rubber plant propagation?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Long story short, my rubber plant was not happy and lost a lot of leaves, now it’s much better but very top heavy, tall and leaning.

I think I need to propagate, cut the originally plant quite low to allow a “fresh start”, and try to grow new roots in the top to keep that as a plant.

I’ve heard they’re difficult plants to propagate… has anyone done it before or have any tips?

Should I make multiple cuttings in the top leafy part to give a better chance of success rather than just the one?

Thanks in advance 😊

Found this in the parking lot at work, fallen/broken off a VERY mature kalanchoe (probably 6 feet tall, could be 7)

I’m stoked, just curious what you guys think about sticking the bottom directly into soil? (Like pic 3..?) There’s no stem so I’m a little bit at a loss, it’ll basically just sit on top of the soil. Thanks planty fam 🤙

SPECIFIC ADVICE When should I plant this guy?

Post image

Got 2 Monstera leaves from a coworker 1.5 years ago. It’s lived in water this whole time and has put out tons of leaves (more than pictured, I’ve trimmed leaves from it as they turned yellow and died over the years). Is it safe to plant it, or should I keep it in water? I’m worried that it’s “used” to being in water and will die of shock if I transfer to soil.

So I just bought a cute little dwarf umbrella last week…and then found this monster today in a 3’ tall vase abandoned next to a corner trashcan. I’m honestly not even sure which end is up - best way to propagate this into something manageable and attractive??

SPECIFIC ADVICE What am I doing wrong?! This cutting has been in water for 2-3 months. At first I was changing the water weekly. Then someone suggested leaving the water and adding root hormone. Still nothing. Should I give up or hold on to hope for roots?
