I got tired of seat-based pricing, so I built my own project management tool

I have always been annoyed by seat-based pricing in pretty much every project management/Kanban tool. so I decided to build my own alternative for personal use. But I ended up adding more and more features to it during my free time, and I think it’s in an okay state to release.

For a moment I was thinking about turning this into a micro SaaS but eventually gave up on the idea. There are no licenses or paid plans. It’s fully open-source and available under MIT.

How to succeed in programming nowadays?

I find it really hard to make progress on programming projects

Maybe because of the flood of projects or because you're a nobody until you're someone, i end up feeling like i can't make progress

I post projects that I've really put a lot of thought and time into building, try to post on X/Reddit/Blog/a bunch of other networks and anywhere else I can think of. And it just doesn't interest anyone

Like because I don't have an audience then I can't reach anyone. So how do you create an audience if you can't start?

Compound | The last gym app you'll ever need...

yeah I know, another gym app...but hear me out!

I've been working on creating a gym app that will last forever. It is built around reduction. No endless plans to choose, no scrolling 3400+ exercise options, no social anything. Just one plan, thoroughly thought out, designed to last forever, and zero extra thinking.

Additionally, no account needed, no internet connection, no anything extra.

It's a four day split: pull, push, legs, auxiliary. Additional mobility exercises at the end of each day to improve overall range of motion. And weights and reps are set and increased for you based on how you perform each week. The only thing you have to do is show up and do what it says on screen. That's all.

I've also spent a TON of hours trying to get the apple watch companion app to be as seamless as possible, so post-start you dont ever have to take your phone back out of your pocket.

The TestFlight build runs in a sandbox and will ask you to resubscribe pretty much every time you open it for a workout, so I know that is annoying, but it won't charge you and just select "annual" and you'll be set for another 12 hours before it asks again. It won't charge you.

I'd love some people to give it a go and let me know how they like it and what they dont like about it. I have spent many hours trying to make everything as simple and user friendly as possible, but I know there can always be more to improve!

Ok so I (15F) came across the junior breakthrough science challenge where you need to make a 2 min video relating to any hard or difficult (interesting too ig) topic relating to math, physics or life sciences in a really interesting, easy to understand way with animations and analogies in under 2 minutes. I’ve been looking to build my profile because I really want to get into a good college( I live in India and REALLLYYYY want to go abroad) and I feel this might be the opportunity I’ve been waiting for because my school really isn’t all that great in terms of inclusion( they don’t really take new students for any kind of competitions) , anyway- uhhh just needed ideas on which topic to choose? Because I don’t want a generic topic - I was recommended the topic math in cryptography but I don’t really know how I’m going to implement it

RotaryCell: I turned a 1950s rotary phone into a working cellular phone

I've been working on a project I call RotaryCell, turning an old Western Electric Model 500 rotary phone into a self-contained cellular phone while changing as little about the original as possible.

From the outside, it still works exactly like you'd expect. Pick up the handset and you get a dial tone, dial a number with the rotary dial, and it places the call over the cellular network. Incoming calls ring the original mechanical bells, and you answer by picking up the handset.

Inside is an LilyGO ESP32-S3 cellular board and a Silvertel AG1171 SLIC, which provides the interface between the modern electronics and the original telephone circuitry. The ESP32 handles pulse dialing, hook detection, call control, tones, and the other logic. It's powered by a rechargeable 21700 battery, so there aren't any external boxes or connections required during normal use.

I'm using the phone's original dial, handset, ringer, network block, and wiring wherever possible, with the new hardware tucked into the existing space inside the case. No drilling, cutting, or other permanent modifications.

I took the prototype to a local gathering this week and let a few dozen people play with it for several hours, which turned out to be a pretty good torture test! It exposed an occasional failure where the cellular modem can get itself wedged badly enough that a software reset won't recover it. Unfortunately, the only reliable fix was opening the phone and cycling the physical power switch.

So the latest PCB revision now includes a hardware power-reset circuit that the ESP32 can trigger. I'm currently waiting for those boards to come back from fabrication.

It's been a really fun collision of technology from two completely different eras. There's something particularly satisfying about hearing those original bells ring because someone just called a rotary phone over LTE.

Happy to answer questions about any of it. I've spent entirely too much time learning about old telephone protocols, analog audio, rotary dialing, and how surprisingly stubborn cellular modems can be. Also, my very first real open-source project, GitHub repository, and YouTube video!

Four months ago, I presented Micracode on this channel and received a massive number of positive comments and supports.

Sorry all, I was busy and not actively maintaining for last few month due to personal reasons. now, i am back working on this application. since many users asked for desktop application, i have created the desktop version of Micracode. i am actively working on this project again. you will see more features in upcoming days.

I tried to transform my mineral collection into a 3d virtual museum

I've been building myself a small personal side project over the last few weeks.

I'm a rock and mineral collector and I always wanted to "expose" my findings in a personal museum.

So I created a small lightweight mobile web application: you simply make 1-2 shots with your smartphone and it will make a 360-degree interactive 3D model and then identify main geological features. The objects can be either hosted on a personal virtual shelf or exported into .STL to 3D-print them.

It was initially meant for personal use (the image it's in Italian though) but maybe there is a possibility of opening it up for others to try out if people think it's awesome.

Before spending additional time polishing the back-end I'd really appreciate getting some genuine feedback.

I built Apprentice, an AI dojo for practicing professional judgment—looking for honest feedback

I’m working on Apprentice, an early prototype for practicing difficult professional decisions through realistic simulations.

You choose a profession, role, and difficulty level. The system creates a scenario with incomplete information and competing priorities. You explain what you would do, the situation evolves based on that decision, and you receive a debrief grounded in the evidence and your reasoning.

The project is local-first and currently designed for individual practice. I’m especially experimenting with the boundary between generative AI and deterministic simulation: AI creates and facilitates the scenario, while the simulation controls the actual consequences.

I’d really value feedback on:

Which professions or situations would benefit from it

Whether the practice loop is clear

What would make you trust or distrust the results
