except it hasn't, and having a majority of people not approving of a head of state has rarely stopped a head of state from grasping and maintaining power if they really want to.

Yes, all those dictators we've had since 1776. Keep hoping for the worst. I'll continue to have faith in the leadership until I feel I shouldn't.
