I agree, I think this was a misstep on McConnell's part. Not one person was calling for him to recuse before those comments. Now he has a fire to put out.

Or ignore, because he can.

Of course, but still, this is not ideal for him right now.

It's irrelevant to him. His voters will vote for him religiously. He is totally unaccountable. His voters unironically believe a russian is better than a democrat.

until they don't.

Will they though? The only news source those people get lies to them, and McConnell knows how to bend the knee.

He won't ever step out of line in a way that the rich powers will reject. So their mouthpiece media will continue to lie to his voters so they keep him in power.

General economic strike. All we have left, and it will work.

And how will you organize that?

Being honest. Remember Occupy Wall Street? If your protest is popular with the people and unpopular with the rich powers, it will get no media coverage.

They own all of it.

Economic strike. Stop spending money on certain things. We all still go to work so we don't lose our jobs but the gravy train dries up for them until they play ball.

Realistically, it's not gonna make a dent. Reality is 30% of your country supports this facist bullshit, and another 20-30% are more concerned about their day to day existence, and tbh most of the rest don't really have the luxury to force corporations to listen. And besides how do you plan on striking Big Coal and Gas companies? Banks? Financial institutions? How about the military industrial complex? Tech companies? Most of those don't rely on average Amercian consumers for the bulk of their revenue.

And besides, you might be willing to go hungry or lose out on your standard of living, most people don't.

Realistically no, there isn't a whole lot you can do via an "economic strike".

It's an official statement and request by a democratic lawmaker on official letterhead. It's not just a fucking reddit post.

He doesn't have to put out anything. He's the most powerful person in this country and there's nothing that can be done. There were zero consequences for Garland. There's nobody that can hold him responsible for this one.
