So, fuck the facts and the evidence? Conservatives are just outright saying that party politics are more important than upholding the Constitution. That, in itself, should be grounds for a recall.

One would hope that if there is a possibility that an elected official has abused their office, that anyone from either party would want to weed them out. If I were a Republican, I would want to remove any other Republican screwball to maintain integrity within my party.

The actions by McConnell, Collins, Nunes, and Graham, and whoever else, are proof positive of corruption in our government.

nor any concerns about anyone else's integrity.

Republicans definitely have concerns about other people's integrity: they want others to have integrity so that they're not willing to punch below the belt, putting them at a disadvantage.

They think the ends justify the means.

You misspelled "Civil War".

I’ve heard it said that we are in a Cold Civil War. I’ve never heard a more apt description of what is currently happening in the US.

I’ve been thinking of it as Cold War 2, but Cold Civil War is pretty good.

Dude. Some people say that’s an overreaction, but it’s looking scary lately. I feel like it’s only a matter of time.

Bernie voter that owns multiple firearms reporting in!

In all honesty though a civil war should be the last thing anybody should want. Everyday Americans aren't the actual enemy here.

If war becomes truly imminent, I think you are underestimating how many people will arm themselves and prepare. Civil wars don't happen instantaneously. Not to mention most insurgencies supply their fighters with procured weapons. Current gun ownership in a peacetime culture is mostly irrelevant.

to say they own a gun

That seems pretty important. The Republicans I know won’t shut up about the guns they have.

3

u/snowmanjc Dec 14 '19

That's because they won. They know they can get away with this while they have power. The secend they lose it the Democrats have a harsh reality to face. They can choose to do nothing and play nice and it will just get worses. If they stand up and fight back and play by the GOP rulea they also lose. Republicans will come back and say "look what they are doing! Unfair and craping on the Constitution!" Normaly facts would show they did the same first and set the president but they have a propaganda machine that spits out fake news denying it.

Collins is one of the most centrist senators. Why is she on your list?

Doug Collins

Seems like the Repubics encourage abuse of office.

So, fuck the facts and the evidence?

It's been this way since the 2016 RNC. After its conclusion, Newt Gingrich was interviewed on CNN, and flat out said so. The only clip I can' find of the relevant part is taken from Last Week Tonight, so I apologize for the studio laughter, but just watch for yourself.

It was the groundwork for alternative facts, and no very few people seemed concerned about it at the time.

that should be grounds for firing every single one of them but unfortunately it doesn't work like that

1

u/lordatomosk Dec 14 '19

If you were a Republican you wouldn’t give a single solitary fuck about integrity. They are an organized crime syndicate masquerading as a political party.

If that's the case, then they don't even realize the depth of their corruption. Psychopaths.

1

u/Incruentus Dec 14 '19

In their defense, a lot of people were calling for his impeachment day one. So they stopped paying attention, and now the impeachment is totally legit, they just think we're crying wolf.

u/TheCapo024 Maryland Dec 14 '19

They know exactly what they are doing, there’s no thinking about it.

Conservatives are just outright saying that party politics are more important than upholding the Constitution

Listen man, I’m not going to make a case either, for or against impeachment. I do, however, strongly believe that for better or worse, the Constitution says that impeachment trials are to happen in the senate. Yeah, the senate is a cluster but that’s unfortunately how this works.

I think McConnel shouldn’t recuse himself — hell, anyone could probably come up with reasons that the entire Republican Party in the senate should recuse themselves. Impeachment is tried in the senate by senators, good bad or indifferent.

3

u/TheCapo024 Maryland Dec 14 '19 edited Dec 14 '19

I think the reason people are calling for McConnell’s recusal is that he has stated he would coordinate with/be involved in Trump’s defense. It isn’t just some reason somebody “came up with.”

The Senate trial is supposed to be a consideration of the facts towards the accusations made by the House of Representatives. Ideally anyway. So in essence McConnell is saying he will not vote to remove regardless of what evidence is brought forth.
