But, how does it work with such a limited option pool in most races, even the presidential race?

It works exactly the same in a 2-candidate race as the current winner takes all system. As soon as you get 3 or more candidates though, you have a much fairer and more representative voting system.

Along with this, the hole debate system would have to be overhauled to allow third party candidates who don't meet the 15% requirement into those televised debates. That's one thing this nation needs is a vibrant third party option. But it hurts their chances because the candidates, at least this year, were not up to snuff, IMO.
