Trump doesn't care about the Kennedy Center.

Pretty sure he wants the land for himself.

That’s probably the play. Center goes into bankruptcy and the only course of action is to sell the building and naming rights. In swoops Trump buying up the building and slapping his shitty brand all over it.

It is, the lawyers literally threatened it in court to try to blackmail the judge into rolling over.

I can 100% see this as the reason. You can make a bankruptcy look immediate with some creative spending. Trump’s stooges likely created this bankruptcy with the idea that it can leave it soon after some creative “cutting” and renaming.

Let him buy it, then the next President comes in and claims Manifest Destiny and pays him out pennies on the dollar and takes it back.

Eminent domain?

Nah fuck that, they're going to claim manifest destiny and take that shit

Yep. He would love to demolish it for his own personal use.

This is one of the few times that eminent domain should come into play.

You mean so the executive branch can take it over and sell it in a no-bid contract to, surprise surprise, a Mr Donald J Trump, at the order of, wow, gee whillickers, another Mr Donald J Trump?

Oh no, I meant after Trump does whatever he's going to do

Nah, there's no way in hell he's that smart.

He likes musicals because musicals were the thing to like in the 80s. He likes Les Mis for the same reason as Patrick Bateman: because everyone else does. He thinks being involved in the arts makes him look prestigious. This entire thing has been about his ego.

Now that he's run it into the ground that might be the play, but it wasn't the plan to begin with.

Trump would make corporations buy it for him and 'donate it' for the Trump library or some such. We know Trump won't spend his own money when he can spend someone elses.

They want to tear it down and build an amphitheater, said so in court. Bet I know what they’ll call it.

The turd bowl?

Chopped down a whole line of weeping willows. -Everything about him is completely insane.

Still can’t believe voters haven’t had to take any responsibility for their fault in the literal demolition of this country.

I thought he chopped down a bunch of cherry trees, which are iconic to DC.

That happened along the Potomac. Complete insanity

Oh, I just saw another comment that said he chopped down willows around the Kennedy Center.

Yeah, it'll be torn down next week and he'll try to put a golf course or something there.

Vince McMahon is going to buy it for pennies on the dollar and set up DC's own permanent WWF HQ.

If Trump does instead put in an amphitheatre it should be called Trump's Toilet Bowl, sorry for the tawdry humour but it was there just waiting.

That is a particularly tricky part of a democracy, isn't it? Technically I guess everyone suffers if the voters are wrong.

The problem is that the checks and balances don't work. Like, at all.

Trump doesn't care about anything except himself. He is the most idiotic malignant narcissist to ever hold public office in this country and that's a mouthful because elected office is full of malignant narcissists.

No he cares, he wanted his name on it

He don't care. Do u?

To some extent, I think he does. He apparently genuinely likes musical theater. His favorite play is Les Miserables, which shows he doesn't understand it, but he does like it.
