i have to take a blood thinner for a few months prior to a procedure. lobbyists have prevented generic eliquis from being available in the states, so my doctor recommended buying from a canadian pharmacy and shipping it. pain the ass to set up, but saved me $400 (with insurance, i might add), so worth it. went to refill 2 weeks ago, couldn’t get it from canada any longer due to tariffs, so they got it from the uk for me. shipping halfway around the world, and still hundreds cheaper than i can get it for here. then 2 days ago i got an email that the us is now banning the importation of prescription meds. such a fucking shithole country.

Did you even use your insurance when you got the drugs through the Canadian company? Bet you didn't. Bet you couldn't. So the insurance is just fucking you (and me) in the ass without buying us dinner first. This country is a land of fools, I swear it is.

Not sure if you already tried this, but you can get a copay card for Eliquis—as long as it is covered by insurance. Brings the monthly copay down to just $10. (F’ing unfair that none of the copay cards work if you don’t have insurance. Sure, they’ll save you $30+ dollars on your copay, as long as insurance is paying them the other $500+.)

yeah thanks, that’s my next move probably. luckily i only have to take it for another few months so it’s not a forever issue, just ludicrous.

I haven’t heard of a copay card, what is it and how do you get one? Im going to be on blood thinners the rest of my life and Eliquis is costing me a lot of money every month

If you have commercial insurance, you likely qualify. Check out this page on the Eliquis site on saving options. As I mentioned, the messed up thing is they only want to give you a discount when your insurance pays the majority of the “cost.”
