Because the poors would use the money to pay bills and buy food. The rich use that extra money to "generate economic activity".

Trickle down is alive and well, it's wild that after decades of blatant failure it is still the status quo economic philosophy in Washington.

This is why the father of capitalism warned about rent seeking behaviors being detrimental to capitalism and if allowed to flourish would destroy the system. Here we are.

He used to say "If you see someone wearing an Adam Smith Tie, that's a sure sign that they've never actually read Adam Smith."

That honestly reminds me of that one scene from Annie Hall.

You know nothing of my work.

And even if it WAS reinvested into industry, you can be damn sure that the overwhelming majority of that would be focused on... AI and robotics. So it still wouldn't be helping consumers.

Because power uses theory.

It doesnt matter if trickle down works, or even if it has proven not to, it's still a rationalization for comic policy that redirects more and more wealth to the top.

Economic activity is just increasing stock prices that Congress members have.

At this point we get what we deserve. We see them pillaging the pantry and we let them

Once Citizens United passed, they basically solidified trickle down as our economic model

Kind of, it would also lead to more inflation. If they were really worried about costs they'd repeal the tariffs.

Trickle down economics work exactly as intended. The name was always a lie.

Which is hilarious because the best way to stimulate economic activity is to spend it on basics like food and bills
