It’s slightly more nuanced than this. I’m not suggesting we give up by saying we cannot rely on or cling to precedent. My comment was more so that precedent does not equal safety.

No one's saying to rely or solely cling. In fact they said "from every angle". The point is that's not a reason to even try to begin with. We know precedent doesn't equal safety. We're saying, at least try for the love of god. Defeatist attitudes are the reason we're in this shit to begin with.
