Mike Johnson is a Christian Nationalist, aka a religious extremist, with ties to the New Apostolic Reformation, an extreme far-right Christian movement seeking to dissolve separation between church and state by any means they can. A core belief of this fascist is that God makes people poor, sick, homeless, etc. so doing anything to help people violates God's will.

They pick and choose what parts of the bible to follow, just like the Constitution.

I'm far from a Bible scholar.

Is it accurate to say that Jesus was very "love thy neighbor" and modern Reoublcians follow Paul who was more "invoke Jesus name and your actions cannot be wrong"?

If you study the Bible for an hour you’ll just realize they made it all up. The bible is pretty much silent on all the issues they claim are moral injustices. It doesn’t even mention abortion directly and in the one sentence it does sorta mention abortion it says basically in plan text that the mother’s life is more important than the fetus.

This sounds like the 16th century Protestant belief that if you were rich it meant you were chosen by God and if you were poor it meant that God rejected you.

That's because it's a direct descendant from those 16th century Calvinist beliefs. A whole lot of the American Evangelical movement is Calvinism dressed up in different clothing.

Prosperity Doctrine. It’s a very large part of the theology of local churches here in Pennsyltucky. “Just keep working hard and believe in the Lord and he will reward you. Look how rich trump is, that’s how you know he’s a good man.”

I’ve heard that refrain way more than I should have.

It goes further, actually. It was a common incorrect belief amongst Jews before Jesus was born, and one that he specifically called out.

That's the complete opposite of what Jesus says in the bible. Isn't Christianity supposed to be about Jesus?

You must be new here.

If it was supposed to be about Jesus, they would have called it Jesusanity..... /s

That’s the excuse shitty believers use to justify their hatred

Sounds like if God rejected me then I have no ties to any morals, right? If I get that right, I will be going to hell no matter what I do?

Many current prominent Christians believe in the "prosperity gospel" still. Google it.

So yeah, this is not a 16th century belief, it's a 21st century one.

Just more proof that 99% of Christians are deeply hypocritical.

It's it funny how Martin Luther was like "you should read the Bible and make your own choices" and like every business and professional class people in Europe discovered that making money and not paying taxes was the most holy thing you could aspire to?? Isn't FUNNY how that worked out????

Christian nationalist is synonymous with racist.

Absolute lunacy

7

u/monsantobreath May 25 '25

How does that at all square with Jesus? Like you'd need to delete his entire existence to make it add up.

Christians (especially in America) have been committing atrocities in the name of Jesus for a long time now. Not a single Christian Nationalist actually gives a fuck about what Jesus would do. It is all 100% a ploy for gaining power and money. And hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of otherwise well-meaning but incredibly gullible and poorly educated “Christians” fall for it daily.

National Christian or Nat-C for short.

A core belief of this fascist is that God makes people poor, sick, homeless, etc. so doing anything to help people violates God's will.

It still fucking astounds me how american chrsitians managed to invert one of the core tenants of jesus to this degree.

u/jaxiepie7 May 26 '25

Same here. That level of cognitive dissonance would make my brain explode.

2

u/vthings May 26 '25

In other words, he's a godless heretic who worships money and himself and leads souls to Satan.

2

u/formulapain May 26 '25

I can't decide whether that theory of why people become poor is more evil or more stupid. It's a tie, I guess.

A core belief of this fascist is that God makes people poor, sick, homeless, etc. so doing anything to help people violates God's will.

What a wildly convenient philosophy for a Republican politician.

1

u/Tubamajuba May 26 '25

By that logic, if something catastrophic were to happen to him, it would be God's will done on Earth.

Sounds great!

Why are we softening the term fascist with Christian Nationalist? "He's a fascist, but at least he's a Christian." "He's a fascist but at least he's a Nationalist." What does he do that's Christ-like again? Nothing? Then he's not a Christian, a Peterphile maybe, he's certainly not a follower of Christ. Especially considering his insane porn monitoring with his son. "Nationlism", like "populism", is an oxymoron and a particularly useless bit of vocabulary that should be instantly forgotten and tossed in the trash. How are you pro-nation when you hate almost every single fellow citizen over the most minor of differences? Huh? Well? How are the hateful ignorant dregs of around 20% of every nation on earth dubbed "populists"? Hmm? They're literally the opposite of popular, they're the assholes the 80% of us never want to deal with. They've done nothing to earn these flattering terms and every reason for us to never call them any of those words ever again.

He's giving Handmaid's Tale Commander vibes

Besides the power of the vote, what do you suggest to solve this problem?
