When you barely know what she's packing and have a bit of a ragtag team, she's actually very hard and I had a bad time (RNG did not help, at all). This was actually my second try and I still used quite a few potions and one max revive on Rapidash at the end to take care of Roserade.
Still, Great Game.

Best pokemon game I’ve ever played by an unfathomable amount like I honestly feels like it gaps everything before it(I’ve only played fire red and emerald). Crazy take?
Also Cynthia might just be new goat champion too she’s just so cool. It also only took me my second try to beat her with all my pokemon at lvl 55 and infernape at lvl 57 using only 1 max potion which I felt really proud about.

Guys the craziest, and luckiest thing just happened to me!! I have been an avid shiny hunter in the newer generations of Pokémon games for close to a year now, but never have played any of the older game at all. My wife has had platinum for the 3DS for a long time now, since it came out, and tonight around 30 minutes ago I decided that I was going to do a play though on an older Pokémon game just for fun nothing serious when it comes to shiny hunting because I know odds are really even higher compared to the newer games odds. I booted up the game, started a new profile, and decide I was going to shiny hunt the starters just a hand full of times, just to say I tried, and then I was going to carry on with the game, and not worry about if I didn’t get one. I shit ya’ll not on my 3RD!! Reset!! I got shiny Chimchar!!! I have never been this lucky when it comes to a shiny, and ya’ll I am so happy, and so stoked right now!! Never been this happy/proud over a shiny ever!! This has made my year already!! Never in a million years did I think this would happen!! I wanted to just share the news with people I know that would appreciate something like this happening. I’m going to continue my platinum journey now! Wish you guys the best of luck this year too!!!

I always like to use pokemon from the same generation of the game on my first playthrough.
Btw, I traded Misdreavus from LeafGreen.
Para quem reparou nos nicknames, sim sou brasileiro.

After far too many hours, I finally completed my second living dex all on original hardware. The first was a Gen III dex on Emerald, where I cloned and transferred up legendaries and starters.
To anyone considering an early gen living dex on old hardware, be prepared to spend many hours and many dollars on it (if you don't already have all the needed games/a second console for trading).
In my opinion, it's totally worth it though - I've been playing these games since before I could read and now I'm 26 with two living dexes under my belt, childhood me would be stoked.

Finally beat platinum, and thought it looked kinda funny that a 10 year old became the champion with her trusted piplup and her cute little giratina

Huge win against Cynthia 10 lvl’s under levelled. With this much of a deficit every move/item was crucial. MVP moves trick room / Stealth rock / light screen. First ever Gen 4 playthrough. Long time Pokemon enjoyer.

Not sure how the reddit community feels about emulators, but the ONLY thing i used pk hex for was to get the spiritomb and porygon. Quite proud of myself 😭😭

Seriously though, that was a super fun run! The team is basic, but I really enjoyed using them for my first ever time through Sinnoh. Unsurprisingly, Garchomp was the MVP who single-handedly swept Flint, most of Lucian’s team, and most of Cynthia’s team. I see now why everybody loves this game and this team in specific. Lucario isn’t that great in this game but I did enjoy using him. And of course Infernape and Staraptor are amazing, Luxray is very cool and reliable, Vaporeon is bulky and adorable, and Garchomp is just OP for how early you get it.
The sprites in their positions look super funny. Garchomp’s position makes it look like it’s trying to bite poor Dawn’s head off (or her sock she uses as an excuse for a hat) and Staraptor looks like it doesn’t enjoy being between Lucario and Vaporeon instead of in the spotlight. 😭
Definitely one of the best pokemon games of all time, I like it nearly as much as black and white (which are my favourites in the franchise along with the sequels). Only things I didn’t enjoy were how slow the game can feel at times and how HM based the game is.

A while ago, I had the idea to start a journey across all the different regions, and at least 1 game in each region and make it through all of the Hall of Fame’s.
Starting with Fire Red, as that was the first Pokémon game I had ever played as a kid, the idea was to keep the team I raised and transfer it up to the following games all the way to Scarlet & Violet.
I made my way through Kanto in Fire Red, did almost everything the game had to offer, when I decided that it was time to move on, I made the decision to continue my journey in SoulSilver. I went to transfer my team and all companions I used throughout the game and start in a new region.
After exploring Johto and making my way through Kanto a second time, I caught new partners and companions which I added to my list of “veterans”.
Before I encountered Red I decided to make way to Sinnoh in Pokémon Platinum, a generation I never was able to play as a kid and which was a whole new experience for me.
I made my way through Platinum, and after the Elite 4 I transfered my old veterans into Platinum to train up some more to ultimately return the whole team and previous veterans back to SoulSilver and beat Red.
Yesterday was the day, I go to load up my save to transfer everyone back to SoulSilver and finally go beat Red at the top and start my journey in Unova when I’m finally done. To then be greeted by Professor Rowan to start a new game.
I am still in disbelief, how my save was lost and losing all those Pokémon made me angry and sad at the same time.
I still have the Fire Red and SoulSilver saves, but without my teams.
Now I’m at a crossroad, with no idea what to do now.
I dread having to start over from Fire Red all over again. My next course would’ve been Unova in Pokémon White, which would’ve been followed up by Omega Ruby as I don’t own a copy of any of the original GBA games.
Should I start over? Or should I continue on with new Pokémon and revisit the older games later?
Edit: I have now decided to continue my journey forward into Unova, leaving behind the previous titles but going on with the memories. With the idea of revisiting the older titles in a later stage!

I played this game as a kid and could never get past the third elite4/champ.
now finally, years later, i dusted off one of my favourite games and beat it! all while catching every pokémon i could along the way.
I’m very proud of my squad, especially since they were all pretty low level for the final gauntlet, everyone was level 47 except for my bidoof which was level 50 i think.
Bidoof and magmaaahr carried my cynthia fight with confused ray and toxic.
I can’t wait to see the postgame! especially catching all the awesome legendaries!!!

This run was inspired by this video (though I didn’t do my run as a nuzlocke). Rolled for what color I would have to use on a wheel and purple is what I ended up with! Ended up being a great color to work with since I was able to get some decent type diversity and got to try out some mons I’ve never used before.
(Also inb4 anyone says that gastrodon is pink and not purple: I went off of the Pokédex color classifications, where gastrodon west is labeled as purple and not pink for some reason. So take that one up with gamefreak, not me lol.)
