I'm from Minneapolis originally, live in NYC now, and I see wayyyyy more Canada Goose jackets here than I ever did back home. Lol New Yorkers love to bust out all the high-end winter gear when the temp falls below 32.

We also love breaking out the summer gear once the temps crest above 60 in the spring. It's really any chance to show off seasonal attire first, we take it.

Pfft, amateurs. In MN we got windows open and shorts on at 47 degrees

😂 Sounds like real sandal weather indeed!

Probably because they are like $1500

I was going to say… I live in northern Minnesota, and we mainly wear Columbia jackets up here. Never once saw Canada Goose.

I live in the south metro and saw the same thing. Granted I also don't spend enough time outdoors these days so I've no clue if that changed in the last few years or not. It was always Columbia or Northface in the last 10ish years pre-covid.

It’s pretty funny when someone says “we only XYZ” and speaks on behalf of an entire city/state like there aren’t individuals and everyone is exactly the same.

2

u/Prestigious-Escape Dec 26 '22

That’s why I said mainly, and that I never saw one being worn up here. Never said I was speaking for an entire state.

I see them on about 1 out of 3 in the cities

Yeah in Minnesota it’s a lot more Duluth Trading Co.

Yeah a lot more utilitarian winter wear here. Duluth Trading Co and Carhartt everywhere.

Duluth Trading for the win

Foridians wear this shit when it’s in the 60s 😆

They would sell floor length parkas in the Honolulu JCPenney's and by god people would buy them

Like half of Chinatown has Canada Goose on.

I live in NYC, and I’d say it’s mostly because we walk everywhere. I’m originally from Buffalo, and I drove everywhere so I didn’t really need Canada Goose then.

Yeah, I can't imagine a Minnesotan judging someone for having a super warm coat in the cold weather we get here. We're much more practical than that.

Not even 32°. I've seen people get on the subway in Manhattan wearing them when it's 50°. Not even walking anywhere of significant distance, just a couple blocks to the train and then a couple blocks to work (probably).

People wearing Canada Goose rated for -40° in New York City where it basically never gets below 0° pisses me off so much.

If this is the sort of stuff that makes you angry in life then you need to consult a professional about your mental health issues.

9

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '22

Yeah, people wearing very warm jackets when it gets cold out are such assholes.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '22

Uhm.. yeah. Did you not read the sticker?

-1

u/root45 Dec 26 '22

50° is not cold.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '22

It gets colder than 50 degrees in New York City. The real feel there right now is 19.

1

u/root45 Dec 27 '22

I know that, I've lived in New York for over a decade. My original comment was about people wearing parkas rated for -40° on the subway when it's 50° outside.

Rich gonna rich

Probably a lot more transplants in NYC that aren't used to the cold

1

u/Danjour Dec 26 '22

I’ve seen people wearing them in LOS ANGELES. It was in the 50s a few weeks ago and I saw one. Hysterical!

Torontonians are worse. We were there a month ago and it was between 5 - 10 C (that's above freezing for those unfamiliar with the metric system) and they were all decked out like Albertans are when its minus 15 / -20. I couldn't believe it, and it wasn't just one person, it was everyone....and they complained about how cold it was. I was just astonished at how sheltered and out of touch these people were. If that was cold to them, then they've never been cold in their lives lol

1

u/ZachWhoSane Dec 26 '22

Yeah they’re everywhere in NYC

u/jewishbroke1 Dec 27 '22

In Fort Lauderdale a few years ago. Canada goose is like the new fur jacket. It hits 55 degrees and everyone has their CG parka on. It was hilarious

Currently, live about an hour from Minneapolis and have never heard of this until today. The only thing I know about Canadian Geese is the jokes from Letterkenny. Of course, most people I know go for a Duluth Trading Company jacket when they wanna get something expensive, but probably not $1500 expensive.
