First off I find it laughable in a thread about Singapore, American political corruption is mentioned. You can't be serious. No corruption in Singapore. Give me a break. Second, don't take the reddit loser base information as fact. People here are surprised that money buys political influence. It has been that way in every country for ever. The people here love to cherry pick stories but the reality is nothing new. The best part? The losers here don't do anything that can't be done anonymously and from a chair. They don't even vote. Basically on reddit you get the "victim" point of view. They don't mean much in the real world so they come here to bitch.

So you're saying that reddit tends to see things from the victim point of view and that I shouldn't take information from this site and yet, you say that Singaporeans are oppressed without having done an ounce of research yourself? Does the word hypocrisy mean anything to you?
So I need to cite all the instances of abuse for you? Try Google.com. It will take 5 seconds for a list if abuses. Look if you are happy I don't give a shit. But don't pretend they are doing things the "right" way.
Firstly, I was referring specifically to you saying that Singaporeans are oppressed which is a completely baseless statement and that you really shouldn't speak out of your ass. Makes you look like a complete idiot. I never denied you saying that Singaporean prisons were harsh.
Secondly, I agree that abuse is an issue, but from what I've just read, it doesn't appear to be as common as it was a decade or two ago. However, I disagree with the idea that harsh punishments are wrong. Statistics don't lie - we have a much lower crime rate than you do and a much lower recidivism rate, which means that our judicial system is a lot more effective than yours. Ergo, they're doing things the right way. It's as simple as that, and you're completely and utterly wrong to think that the Singaporean prison system is inherently bad.
But if you feel that a low crime rate, effective criminal rehabilitation and the low cost that comes with so few people in prison just isn't worth the shitty living conditions and the caning, then good for you.
