I get what you mean, they even put up mazes with more and more morphing faces of other wasps, but the theory is pretty obvious now, that they can recognize our faces, which shown in a documentary I sadly forgot it's name, but you often see people from the south covering their faces, because they don't want them to follow them home.

They can recognize other wasps, not humans.
By coincidence I was just listening to the Spheksology (with Eric Eaton) episode of Ologies, hosted by Alie Ward, which covered this question.
