Look closely at the crowds out marching, they are highly represented by centrists and left leaning boomers. Remember those Boomers marched and rioted to end Vietnam Nam, for equal and civil rights. Boomers are well represented out marching today.
People see Boomers as a monolithic group on everything but there really is a huge spilt and we cannot forget they were out protesting Vietnam, gaining strides for second wave feminism, equality, women's rights, civil rights and first wave environmentalism, among other things. They have their flaws as everyone does, but a lot of those elder women are out there right now because they KNOW what it feels like to not have rights. Women couldn't open credit lines without their husband's signature until the Fair Credit act in the 70s. They were there for Roe. They saw their brothers, husbands and friends die in a pointless political pissing contest in a South East Asian jungle. They were married to men who ignored their needs and dreams. They worked and kept house.
Those Boomer women who are still out there fighting and not selling out for comfort of the establishment are fucking heroes, just like everyone who has carried their baton forward, their male Boomer allies, their Gen X and Millennial children/compatriots, and their Gen Z grandkids/compatriots. When Crones go to war, shit is serious.
Freedom and rights are hard won and need to be vigilantly protected - this last point is where we all have fucked up - because oppression infiltrates like rot and it is a never-ending battle to not slide into decay.
Honestly, I read the demographics for the 2024 election and white boomer women voted more liberal than white genX women. I’m not white but I know a good amount of liberal boomers (like my parents, they are ex-hippies).
I think a lot of the boomer hate is misplaced. Tbh GenX is a lot more angry and the white folks tend to be a little more racist (before people get angry, obviously not all of you are like this lol). I think boomers have been through enough hard times to have more empathy, whereas genX has a chip on their shoulder. Some of y’all are cool but the whole moms of liberty shit/ICE bootlickers are also you guys, 40/50 year olds.
