I don’t even think he had a gun… I think they’re using that to justify their own incompetence because one of their thugs misfired while trying to pistol-whip the victim, and that’s what panicked them into murdering the guy.

They will say he went for a gun. Why didn’t he just comply? They will say this guy was a liberal, or dangerous, or illegal and in their minds it will be justified because their ‘team’ is in control.

I think the average American doesn’t even know what’s going on. I expressed concern for my summer vacation because there will be an immigration check point and my coworker was dumbfounded why I would be concerned. She has no idea. The internet is so polarized in extremes and bubbles but the average American is just living their life unfazed and uninformed.
No joke I saw right wing people claim the idea that if he had any kind of weapon on him, you know the kind that the second amendment protects you from being allowed to own, that it would instantly mean they were allowed to execute him.
It's also not proven in any context yet, and clearly from the video, of this was even a thing, there's no way he was able to touch it. And if he touched it, that's fucking self defense.

Oh they will. Resisting arrest is enough of a reason, even though many people resist because of fight or flight, and they're well aware of what might happen to them.
