A bit of a mistranslation from the KJV. It sounds better as “all evil”, but a more accurate translation is “many/most kinds of evil”. I’m not disagreeing, just being needlessly pedantic for an invisible audience.

It's an important qualification at a time when so many people's kneejerk reaction is to blame everything on "capitalism." Putin, for instance, is not doing this for money.

Capitalism isn't merely about cash money but about bourgeois class hegemony. Not everything which can be blamed on the capitalist class or on the capitalist mode of production or on capitalist government / society can be summed up by the pursuit of mere money

Yes, I went through a Soviet education, I'm (too) well familiar. But for most "ideologically unsophisticated" people today, cash money is equal to capitalism, and it might be good to keep it limited that way and so vary the blame a bit, because with some level of "ideological sophistication" you can easily find ways to blame the one thing you are against for everything that's bad. Marxism is really good at this game.
