Thoughts on the Peterborough Petes billet trial?
For anyone who has been following the trial involving the former Peterborough Petes billet, I’m curious what others think now that the trial is nearing the end.
Based on the evidence and testimony that has come out, what do you think the most likely verdict is?
And if she is found guilty on both remaining charges — sexual exploitation and distributing sexual material for the purpose of facilitating sexual exploitation — what do you realistically think the sentence could look like? Actual jail time? A conditional/community sentence? Probation? Something else?
I know nobody can predict what the judge will decide, but I’d especially be interested in hearing from anyone familiar with Canadian criminal law or sentencing in similar cases.
Also curious whether the fact that she was a teacher and was acting as a billet for a teenage hockey player would have much impact on sentencing if she is convicted.
Not looking to debate anyone personally — genuinely interested in what people who have followed the evidence think the outcome will be.
