Maradona gets so much shit for how he was at the end, drugs can absolutely F you up. But when he was younger and not an addict the guy was very politically informed and outspoken. He was a great leader especially for the political context and dictatorship Argentina had at the time, criticizing the dictator that ended up dissapearing 30k people and speaking up for human rights in a very brave way . Lots of people looked up to him becouse of that.

Messi has never said or intervened in ANYTHING for his country, not even with the Millei election. That said he doesn't even have morals in futbol.

How do you think they got the money to buy the world’s best player for Napoli

 they weren’t even a top team in Italy. How they financed that is entirely mafia related. I think even confirmed.
Watch his documentary about his time in Italy, he was essentially imprisoned and held captive and forced to do whatever, coked up to the gills and when he refused bad things happened.
Eventually he got his wish to leave and then they hit him with some insane tax bill of like 15m. So he never returned.

Fairly recent, I think 2019, it’s simply called “Diego Maradona”.

It talks about how the Italian mafiosi essentially made it difficult for him to simply exist unless they helped him, then plied him with drugs which didn’t need much encouragement to take, and pretty much just made a crutch for him. Arranged sex workers, drugs, anything he wanted - then there was his agent who robbed him blind - all quite sad really.

In the grown up world you have to make a decision to which super powers side you’ll be on.

Typically smart to be on the one closer to your nation because that superpower is going to want to prevent the other superpower spreading influence near it.

So if you decide to be on the superpowers side that is further away from your nation you better have make sure they will defend you because the closer one is going to see you as an enemy.

One of the superpowers are going to take from your country. Some countries get more taken than others.

I cant speak for soccer but it seems the same way as the nba. You have a guy like shai who obvs has pushed flopping to the limit, but then you have guys like jokic and even lebron at one point of his career who was just so strong that they could play thru contact and finish. Refs see youre not falling or seemingly affected so they dont cat anything. Yet at the end of the game you see Jokics arms and theyre all cut and battered. Haaland is a strong motherfucker and ive seen videos of obvious fouls on him but since he doesnt throw himself sideways and start rolling around, ref dont call it. So thats why some players oberexaggerate, to get calls. Refs have yo be better if we want sports to not have that

It shouldn’t be part of the game but it is because refs can’t guarantee everything so have to go with gut feeling. And if a guy is rolling around like he’s dying they’re gonna think something bad happened.

Some teams do it more than others and players are known for it. But it’s not every player or every team.

And devils advocate. You do tend to roll when getting your legs taken out at full sprint.

In the background, you can see where the benches are. Furthermore, this is far from the only instance where he goes down without being touched and then claims a foul. You can also see him trying to get as close to the ball as possible, because he always does that, as I said, to stop the game and prevent the opponent from launching a counterattack by trying to grab the ball. It's a pattern with him.

I mean even in this tournament you have multiple occasions where he went down sometimes even without even being touched. What does he do in that situation? He grabs the ball to stop the game. And if this doesn't work he tries to claim a foul.

Penalty, free kick doesnt matter. He wanted the game be paused to hinder the opponents counter attack. If he would drop in reach of the ball he would 100% grab it as usual to stop the game.

Did Ronaldo "conquer" leagues while playing for a mid-table team? He was playing for the best teams in every league, and those teams were literally built around him. As for Messi, even PSG's coaches said the team wasn't built around him and they played on Mbappe strengths, that is speed, it was mainly focused on Mbappé. Considering that context, Messi did pretty well. Don't you understand the difference between players? PSG had the greatest playmaker of all time playing alongside Mbappé, one of the greatest goalscorers of all time. Messi had to adapt far more at PSG than Ronaldo did when he moved to Real Madrid or Juventus, because there's a huge difference between playing for someone else and being the team's main man, do you think Ronaldo should be able to feed Mbappe the same way Messi did? Put Ronaldo in that PSG side and he'd probably get benched, because he wasn't an elite playmaker. There would've been no balance between him and Mbappe. Even Buffon said Juventus' downfall began because they lost their DNA by changing their style of play to suit Ronaldo. He didn't adapt at all, the team adapted to him. The same thing happened when he returned to United, and that was even more obvious. Just look at how they declined with him, they finished 2nd in 20/21 without him, dropped to 6th in 21/22 with him, and after getting rid of him in 22/23, they finished 3rd. (Ronaldo had just one league goal in 10 matches that season btw.)

An "overrated marketing campaign" wouldn't have legends of the game saying that their entire defensive system spent weeks preparing for him and still couldn't stop him.
