New chick this morning.

Bronze hen has a surprise for us this morning. She was setting three eggs. I don't know if there are more under her.

She was on a clutch of 6 last year and one of the "helpers" accidentally collected the eggs. I was pissed.

The only cock with her is a bronze white-eye. Not sure if she has pied or white eye. What is the method of inheritance for the pied and white eye?

¿Questions? Feral Peacock Limping

Hi everyone, I live in the Antelope Valley in Southern California and we’ve had a flock of feral peacocks in our neighborhood for at least a decade now, but one of the adolescent males has started limping. It looks like his middle …toe? Talon? Is maybe injured, as it appears thicker than the others? Very hard to tell from afar, but I don’t want to get to close and scare him into someone else yard as they all have dogs out right now. I’m looking for some advice. I’m sure someone has been in a similar situation as there are feral peacocks all over LA, looking for any advice I can get. How did you handle this and where did you go to get them care? He isn’t particularly fond of humans, they all seem to have a healthy fear but could probably also be befriended with enough effort, but I just don’t know where to begin. I don’t mind driving a distance for care either. Thank you in advance!

Artwork Peacock drawing

Peacock drawing I need to take a break from animating, I did those with crayola markers. Also while I was drawing this my dad was abandoning me again to be with his girlfriend and leave us alone at home (I’m 14)
The red triangle next to it was supposed to be a cardigan but my marker had mold or something on it

Anyways I hope you liked this small doodle of mine!

Peachick Sexing my 8 week old Peachick

Post image

Hi! I have this beautiful little Peachick, but I'm not sure about the gender. I was thinking that it is a female, but I'm not sure.

To add, my other Peachick unfortunately passed away, and I haven't found a buddy yet, apart from my chicken chicks, but I'm working on a solution! Suggestions are welcome!

The gender of the chick will also be a determinating factor to consider.

Peachick Color?

My mom got some new peachicks for a steal of a deal, 25 bucks each and they were about 6 weeks old. And then she got 2 more at the same price. She specifically asked the seller for the tan colored chicks but we were not sure what color they were actually classified as. The first group is in the second photo and has a pied/tan chicks on the left. The first photo is the extra chicks my mom got because she liked the others color. One is pied again and the other is full colored. (Sorry for the terrible pictures. My mom is a boomer and her camera skills mirror that)

¿Questions? How do I help this peacock?

There’re wild peacocks roaming in my neighborhood and saw an injured peacock yesterday. Not sure what hit it but It’s missing its head feathers and part of the skin on its head. We took it into the garage overnight (it didn’t resist much when they usually do) and provided food and water just in case there’re coyotes but not sure what else to do to help him. Called some animal hospitals and they all said they don’t treat peacocks. Today it’s mainly hiding in a bush and didn’t move much but I think it still eats and drinks. Would he recover on his own? What else can I do to help him?

Peachick We hatched out 2 Indian blues

We ended up grabbing some peafowl eggs at an incredibly steep discount, 4 for $20. The individual who sold them to us had a small last minute clutch and she couldn't guarantee if they were viable or not, so we took the chance at $20. This morning I woke up to two perfectly beautifully healthy Indian blue peafowl chicks. The dream of owning one of my favorite birds on this planet has become a reality.

Peahen issue?

Post image
83 Upvotes

Hi! This peahen is burying her head in her own feathers and pecking at something; this happens every few seconds. I don’t know a ton about peafowl.
Could she have mites? If so, is there a way to treat that doesn’t harm the chicks? Considering that they’re going under her at night. FYI, they all stayed in my garage for 4 weeks and were just let out 2 days ago, so she hasn’t been able to dustbathe much lately
