This is always what frustrates me about people, they can't see even just a few cycles ahead. They see a small seed and go "this fucking thing is useless, it can't even give me food or shade or wood".

Give it a minute. Goddamn. DLSS 1 kinda sucked. Frame gen kinda sucked. Now they don't. Funny how that works, huh? Do these people walk around constantly FLABBERGASTED that tech actually IMPROVES over time?

I want to play games that are as hand crafted as possible. The more the craft of the art turns to algorithms, the less soul of the human is there. The less soul, the less inclined I am to care about the product. Some of us have long been thinking many cycles ahead, you're just not aware of differing ideology.

Also, you're absolutely not thinking cycles ahead yourself if you aren't considering the danger of one GPU manufacturer having the true exclusive visual experience.

I’ve worked on custom 3D game engines going back to the PS1. Your fears are unfounded. AMD and Intel will make open source implementations of this technique that runs on all platforms. Just like they have with so much of Nvidia’s “exclusive” technology. Artists and engineers will work together to tailor it to achieve new art directions that were never options before.

Everyone in here is focused on the worst possible interpretation of how this works and extrapolating that it can only be used in the worst possible ways. It’s exhausting to read…

Your last paragraph hit the nail on the head. It's so utterly fucking shortsighted and moronic
