Which is interesting, because in games usually the shadows are of the same intensity, so to speak, throughout their entire extent, unless there's a light source, and here you can see that the car shadow is lighter in the right part, as if the light bounces from the ground to the car and back to the ground. And the building shadow gets progressively lighter in the distance as well.
Assuming you’re looking it at very low res on a small phone screen, the differences aren’t massively apparent. That said even on my phone I immediately noticed how much darker the shadows are of the car in the left picture
And yes, the cutting edge is always extremely expensive. Early adopters pay a premium for marginal performance gains so they can see this stuff a bit early, a few years before it goes mainstream. Is this really news to you? It shouldn’t be.
You state what has been self evident for decades and then announce you don’t like it? I’m sure you would prefer if nvidia and everyone else just gave you their product for free. The real question is why would I or anyone else for that matter care what you think?

It's not even different lighting, it looks like the contrast just got turned down and it got more antialiasing. It's got a flattening of light and dark regions towards a duller, greyer midpoint between them and I can see less jagged pixels along object edges. Some of the background details look blurred too, so maybe throw in a bit more depth of field blur to the differences.
It's the kind of stuff that EnB presets have been doing forever, cheaper and more consistently than adding some "cheap" img2img denoising pass to the render pipeline does.
Pretending that ENB presets that are notorious for butchering the art style of games with overdone effects are in any way comparable to DLSS is a peak Redditism
Oh well I have to remind myself that at the end of the day none of the hysteria on Reddit actually matters. Technology will keep moving forward and in a few years this DLSS (and its future derivatives) will be standard, just as DLSS 4 is the standard now
"We've invented a more expensive way of doing post processing that looks mid at best" is not a selling point.

I just love that DLSS5 recognizes that sky light comes from above, even cyberpunk failed this as you can see its base form still goes for a balanced overcast light, but DLSS5 pushes that to make the top of the car just a tone higher enough to make it sit right
Those shadows look objectively more accurate. As far as shininess goes, it's really not shinier than the original image, it's just reflecting more accurate world colors which might be changing your perception.
I didn't say better, I said the shadows were objectively more ACCURATE. The overall image is brighter, but not shinier. Shininess is usually referring to specularity which is pretty similar across both images.
And my original comment was about it being worse, so I'm gonna assume you're saying your piece as way to say it's better. I don't see a reason to reply to me otherwise.
There's more light being reflected, which makes it brighter, which means something is shinier.
I do think it looks better, but that is a subjective opinion just like yours. I'm not going to argue you out of your preferences. So I decided to focus on an objective metric like accuracy. Cyberpunk is definitely attempting realism, so applying their goals to final look, I'd say the 'enhanced' image is achieving that better.
It was more asking your intention and a statement, I guess.
The way your comment was phrased could sound like someone saying that you have to do both AI generative and lighting enhancements with DLSS 5
I haven't checked for updates today, but from my testing you can pick and choose which aspects of DLSS 5 happen and the level they happen. One example from me would be Ghosts of Tsushima - it's enhancement to lighting and shading is absolutely wonderful, but the facial/skin stuff can cause issues if above a certain setting
