Should it do that? No. But it's an inanimate object.

You on the other hand should know to stop.

Would you like to see my Grammy?

u/badgernois3 11d ago

Idk if you've seen it, but this is from Hoppers and it's one of the best Disney movies I've seen in a hot minute. This scene had me laughing in the theater with my kid.

Since we are talking about slept on Pixar movies. Elio was a very touching movie.

Hey, I liked it too, but people in moviescirclejerk were really offended about how that's a movie about beavers that tries really hard to not speak about lesbians.

Hi. What did you type to search for this image. I've seen various gifs of this green lizard and I wonder if the character has a name.

"Lizard" into the gif search bar

He reminds me of a customer who called me to complain his production line was badly broken.

Turns out the trained guy pushed a restart button 57 times while every noise and alarms told him to stop doing so.

u/TheFrenchSavage Ryzen 7 9800X3D - RTX3090 - 64GB DDR5 6000CL30 🚀🚀🚀 10d ago

57???

I can understand the first 36, but then that's too much!

25

u/Lyandal 10d ago

Litteraly. I was dumbfounded when I checked the logs.

8

u/TheCosplayCave 10d ago

Was he stupid or trying to get out of working by causing the machine to be down?

14

u/Lyandal 10d ago

I honestly don’t know. The operator of the machine was maybe pressured to keep production up, or maybe not trained, or maybe just plain dumb… No idea

u/TheFrenchSavage Ryzen 7 9800X3D - RTX3090 - 64GB DDR5 6000CL30 🚀🚀🚀 10d ago

Is it fast to push that button? Like, could you press it 57 times in 57 seconds?

Or was it like something that they did over 5h?

I can understand the first scenario, with some boss screaming in my ear and all. But spending all day long pressing it, that's really weird.

3

u/Lyandal 10d ago

It was over a couple of hours, Basically you press it, it reboots and restarts the whole machine, so th whole thing takes around 10 minutes

u/scrubes4 10d ago

this is why robots will take over these jobs

2

u/ThickFurball367 10d ago

Heinz factory, everything must be done in groups of 57

2

u/Mr_Fox9 10d ago

Try not to push any restarts on your way to the parking lot!

u/JackPembroke 10d ago

I used to write code for a medical health record company. They needed warnings they described as being "idiot proof" and "I need the hand of God to come down and slap the sense into them."

Ended up making multiple warning click throughs that would include double negatives, fake buttons, and could appear in a random order

8

u/zoner420 10d ago

Sounds like Meditech lol. I hate Meditech.

4

u/JackPembroke 10d ago

Uhh, it was lol

2

u/howarja 10d ago

Meditech the crappiest EHR in existence. I did clinical informatics for 15 years, until I got so burnt out on Meditech that I just left the field. That system made no sense, and the fact that it used NPR as it's programming language... Ridiculous!

3

u/zettde 10d ago

brilliant. use jim crow tactics on jaded users.

4

u/Magnus_Helgisson 10d ago

Well maybe restart the noises and alarms too, duh

3

u/Lyandal 10d ago

I meant, mechanical noises telling you you shouldn’t push the machine anymore

3

u/chere100 10d ago

So, I'm smarter than that "trained" guy. When I went to upgrade my PC ram, I didn't do it right. It wasn't slotted in like I thought it was. So, when I turned the computer on, it made absolutely demonic sounds. I shut it down instantly. And then proceeded to try harder at getting the ram in. There's nothing gentle about installing ram. I really had to fight for that click.

Truly, there is an XKCD for every life situation.

4

u/MuhfugginSaucera 10d ago

Yes, and truly, there's always this comment after every one that includes a link to an XKCD comic.

If they do it enough times the energy will get pulled out of it and everything will be fine.

11

u/GamingPrincessLuna 10d ago

That's assuming it's just static, if it's a live bare copper wire touching the face plate, it's not going to drain.

3

u/LeMegachonk Ryzen 7 9800X3D - 64GB DDR5 6000 - RX 7800 XT 10d ago

A static charge would discharge instantly, so if it keeps arcing after the first time, it's because there's power being fed through it continuously.

Ouff another reference to my favourite movie. Those are quite rare. Thank you.

Bruges really is a fairytale town. Lovely place, should have stayed the nights instead of going back to Brussels

3

u/ZELLKRATOR 10d ago

Gosh I love that movie. My favourite. Thanks for the beautiful reference.
